Cary Weekend: Comedy, Yoga, and The Durham Bulls

Cary, NC – It’s a full-scale weekend of fun in Cary, according to the Calendar of Events, with the opening of two farmers markets for the Spring season, two versions of The Odd Couple, improve comedy, yoga for kids plus opening day for the Durham Bulls and more.

Thursday, April 3, 2014

Thursday is Opening Day at at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The Bulls take on the Gwinnett Braves Thursday through Sunday, then face the Charlotte Knights on Monday through Thursday. DBAP has just gone through an $11 million renovation and the refurbished ballpark is looking pretty flash. It’s just a short drive from Cary up the Triangle Expressway.

Friday has cooking classes, beer tasting, music and more, but our highlight this week is The Odd Couple.

Our story 2 Versions of The Odd Couple” covered playwright Neil Simon’s two versions of his classic comedy. Both will be performed this weekend at Cary Arts Center by the ever-ingenious Cary Players. More details on the Calendar.

Also notable on Saturday is the Cary Road Race at Both Amphitheatre and Comedy Worx at the new Cary Theater on E. Chatham Street. More details on the Calendar.

Here’s an interesting item – African-American Literary Tea at Page-Walker on Sunday from 2-4 PM. “Join inspirational African-American authors and extraordinary women for an afternoon of tea and conversation as they explore the theme “Extraordinary Women / Extraordinary Words.” Tickets $10 available online at etix or at the Cary Arts Center Box Office; for more please call (919) 460-4963. Seating is limited.”

Also Sunday is the start of KidFusion Yoga & Pilates at StudioVIBE in Cornerstone.  “This class is geared towards kids ages 6-11. Kids will learn basic Pilates mat exercises and basic Yoga poses that build strength and flexibility while creating a strong connection to both body and mind. They will also learn breathing and visualization techniques that will teach them how to focus, relax, develop self-control, and empower them; all very important tools to have in their daily adventures!
