10th Annual Ritmo Latino Brings Crowds Downtown
Cary, NC — Ritmo Latino, the annual celebration of Latino culture in the Triangle, celebrated its 10th festival with a huge crowd in Downtown Cary Saturday May 31, 2014.
For the second year, the festival was celebrated on the streets of Downtown after many years at Cary’s Bond Park. The move has proved to attract bigger crowds eager to enjoy a beautiful spring day and sample some ethnic cuisine. Academy Street was closed off and two stages anchored each end of the street. Performances ranged from musical groups to ethnic dancers in bright costumes.
The streets were filled with music from 12- 7:00pm. The free event even included a soccer clinic with the Carolina Railhawks early in the day.
Craft and food tents lined the street, highlighting the many diverse Latino cultures that reside in our area of North Carolina.
A children’s area was set up on the performance green across from the Cary Arts Center, where kids were enjoying bounce houses, a slide and facepainting.
The event is produced by Diamante in partnership with the Town of Cary. Money raised during the day, went towards the Diamante annual scholarships that are given out at the Diamante Awards in the Spring.
