Cary Weekend: Lazy Daze, Potluck and More
Cary, NC — Lazy Daze, that sprawling celebration of art, crafts, music and food, will dominate this coming weekend in Cary with 50,000 expected visitors. But that’s not the only thing happening in town.

The Rally Point Sport Grill is hosting it’s usual Thursday corn hole tournament which features a buffet of wings and things (by the by, those wings come free) along with, of course, corn hole. The entry price is $5 a person, so if you want food and fun, plus a chance to strut your corn hole skills doesn’t hurt, come to the Rally Point for evening fun. Buffet starts at 4 pm, registration at 6pm and ends at 6:45. Tournament starts at 7 sharp.

On Friday, the Durham Ukelele Orchestra will be on the back porch at Chatham Hill Winery in Downtown Cary.
Also Friday, Christian rock comes to Cary as Third Day and Steven Curtis Chapman take the stage at Booth Amphitheatre.
And, popular NC author Ann B. Ross will be at Barnes & Noble on Maynard to discuss and sign her new book.

Lazy Daze returns this Saturday to sport it’s usual fair. Come seem the locally created crafts, music, food and fun. The event is located in Downtown Cary, so it won’t be hard to find. Lazy Daze begins early at 9am and continues on, throughout the day until 5pm. Limited parking is available but you can take the free shuttle from Cary Towne Mall.
On Saturday, a new play area will be opening up at Cary Towne Center mall. Starting at 11 in the morning, the grand opening boasts of a ribbon cutting, kid friendly activities and refreshments as well. Bring the children along and let them enjoy.
Saturday night has the Grease Sing-a-long at Koka Booth Amphitheatre as the conclusion of the Movies by Moonlight series. Bring along a blanket or a chair and, hey, while you’re at it, why not a picnic as well? Along with the movie, there will be a vocal warmup, a costume contest and goody bags. So ready your vocal cords, because this is one viewing where you’re encouraged to be loud. General Admission at $15, kids at $7, 4-Packs – $50 (these are limited and not available for purchase the day of the event). Kids Ages 4 and under are FREE. The fun starts at 8:30 pm.

The Plunge, Pedal and Plod Triathlon comes to Cary early in the Sunday Morning. With check in at 6 am and the race, itself, at 7, you’ll be beating the sun up for this one. The triathlon offers four different courses of varying difficulty, so whether you’re young or old, novice or expert there will be something here that fits your speed. Sunday afternoon, at 2:30pm, Cary Senior Center (in Bond Park) will host the Western Wake Dems Congressional and other Candidate Potluck. It’s an opportunity to meet and hear congressional candidates Clay Aiken and Brenda Cleary along with others running for public office in western Wake and county-wide. Other candidates who have indicated they plan on attending include: Senator Josh Stein, Bryan Fulghum, Gale Adcock, Rep. Duane Hall, Sig Hutchinson, Matt Calabria, John Burns, and Judge Louis Meyer. The event is hosted out of the Cary Senior Center and, as it is a potluck, participants are asked to bring something to share. RSVP to: westernwakedems
