Saturday morning would be a good time to stock up on food at the one of Cary’s 3 farmers markets. Whether you’re grilling and chilling at home or taking a picnic to the park, the cool summer has produced a bumper crop for your gustatory pleasure this Labor Day Weekend.
The weekend weather looks perfect for a match between the Railhawks and the Atlanta Silverbacks on Saturday night at Wake Med Soccer Park. Cool and mild, the sun sets at 7:46 on Saturday night, so you might even need a light jacket or sweater. Maybe.

Labor Day Across the Triangle
Across the Triangle, there’s plenty to do over the long weekend.
On Saturday, the African American Cultural Festival of Raleigh and Wake County will reign supreme in City Plaza from 10 AM to 11 PM.
The Durham Bulls have a home stand against the Norfolk Tides at 5:05 PM on Sunday and a day game (1:05) on Monday. The D Bulls have clinched their division in the International League South and will be headed to the post-season.
Over at the Ackland Museum in Chapel Hill, 130 items from the Joseph McCrindle Collection will be on exhibit through Sunday. McCrindle, a publisher and private collector, amassed works spanning 500 years, from Giacometti and Carracci to Picasso and David Hockey. This is a very cool exhibit and admission is free at the Ackland.
On Monday, give Stand Up Paddle Board Yoga a try in a quiet cove on Jordan Lake. Instructor Maria Finnegan makes it all sound so easy:
Take your yoga practice to a whole new place…on a paddle board…on the water…in a quiet cove on Jordan Lake. Together we will paddle, practice yoga, relax and paddle some more. No worries if you are new to paddle boarding…we will spend time on SUP technique, then paddle for about 15-20 minutes before heading to our yoga spot. No worries if you are new to yoga, we will practice poses for all levels of ability. There are options for staying lower to the board to gain confidence and balance. With time, we will move to our feet and practice standing poses and other more challenging postures. Our yoga practice lasts about 50 minutes and then we paddle for about 10-15 minutes back to shore. The entire experience is approximately 2 hours with 90 minutes on the board and water.
Whatever you’re planning for this weekend, be happy and stay safe!
