Graceful Expressions Hosts a Special Dance Jan. 25

Graceful Expressions

Cary, NC — Graceful Expressions will host a very special dance for parents and their children at Grace Christian School on Sunday, January 25, 2015 at 3 pm. This four year-old tradition, however, has a new twist this year–the dance will accommodate children with special needs and of all mobility levels.

No Rules, Just Fun

For four years now, Graceful Expressions Dance Education in Cary has taken the classic “Father/Daughter Dance” to a whole new level. This dance invites mothers and sons to join in on the festivities and, this year, some new activities are planned to ensure that children with special needs can have a blast too.

The free event, held in the auditorium of Grace Christian School, will feature an afternoon of fun dances with props and movements that accommodate participants with a variety of abilities as well as a sing-along for younger children, balloon sculptures, and face painting.

Participants should come dressed for a party and ready to celebrate.

The Group Behind it All

April Schweitzer of Graceful Expressions explains why they’re doing this:

Daddy-daughter dances at our studio have been very popular. We wanted to share that opportunity to make beautiful memories with the community. We hope this dance will be a magical experience for children with special needs. We want to create an environment that is sensitive to different abilities and where everyone can feel welcome and loved, just as they truly are! This is our first dance [of this kind] — but we hope it will become an annual tradition.

Graceful Expressions is also thankful to everyone who has helped plan the event–balloon artists, face painters dancers, a DJ, and photographers will all be there to contribute to the success of the dance. April told me how wonderful it is that, “Grace Christian School has generously donated their auditorium [to us] the day after their Homecoming Dance — all decorated and ready to go!”

Parents and children who wish to participate should register online as soon as possible, as the event may fill up.
