Cary Chamber Screens Durham Documentary This Week
Cary, NC — The Cary Chamber of Commerce holds an Economic Development breakfast every month. This month, on Wednesday, the program will be a screening of the 1/2 hour documentary Because No One Else Would – the Story of American Tobacco and the Durham Renaissance, produced by CaryCitizen publisher Hal Goodtree.
Economic Development Breakfast
The Cary Chamber’s Econ Dev breakfasts highlight issues and individuals relevant to economic development in Cary.
Durham Documentary
Hal Goodtree’s 1/2 hour film about the Durham Renaissance was first broadcast on WRAL in December 2014. It earned a #1 share in prime time and was seen by an estimated 100,000 people.
“The film traces the history of American Tobacco in Durham, but it also asks the question ‘How do you revitalize a town?'” said Goodtree. “This is the same question we’ve been asking ourselves for a long time about Downtown Cary.”
The documentary features interviews with Durham Mayor Bill Bell, Capitol Broadcasting CEO Jim Goodmon, Capitol VP of Real Estate Michael Goodmon, Connie Walker from WUNC, Adam Klein from the American Underground and Brad Brinegar from ad agency McKinney.
