Raleigh, NC — The annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade took place in Raleigh on Saturday, March 14, 2015. Despite a steady mist of rain and overcast skies, I had a great time capturing some shots of leprechaun hat-clad dogs, miniature ponies, colorful costumes and lots of organizations and groups–some of which were from Cary!

Overcast Skies & High Spirits

A steady downfall of rain flooded my windshield on my way to Downtown Raleigh last Saturday and, although the parade was said to be on “rain or shine,” I didn’t have high hopes for good attendance. However, as 10 am rolled around, the sky seemed to recognize all the excited and hopeful parade participants and onlookers determined to enjoy the morning’s festivities.

The steady fall turned into a light mist that came and went throughout the duration of the parade. The brilliant display of Irish music and dance, cultural and public service groups, cute kiddos and sweet animals (and the tiniest pony I had ever seen) made for a perfect morning–and a wonderful photo opportunity.
