Seekers: Downtown Cary’s Treasure Chest

Seekers

Cary, NC — On W. Chatham Street in Downtown Cary, there’s a little house overflowing with quirky yet lovely antiques, knick knacks and collectibles. It’s called Seekers.

Downtown Cary’s Treasure Chest

I drove right by Seekers, wondering what it was, for months before I decided to step inside. I’m a vintage/thrift store junkie, but I had never heard of the shop before.

It was the outside of the little house that made me take notice of this less than one year-old antique shop. Old signs, vintage appliances and tools, useful treasures and a purple-painted walkway all make Seekers stand-out to people passing by. There are even antique finds and items around the sides of the house and in the backyard, where customers park.

Where is Seekers?

Seekers is one of the first businesses you’ll see on your left after you take the Old Apex Road roundabout into Downtown Cary. It’s right across from the Matthews House and right beside Chocolate Smiles Village. Oh, and it looks like this.

What’s Inside?

Shawna and Quentin, the owners of Seekers, are “circulation specialists,” meaning that they travel all around the state and beyond to search, rescue, and purchase old treasures for their store. Inside, four rooms are filled with whimsical, out-of-the-ordinary items like clothes, jewelry, furniture, dishes, home decor, vintage toys and more.

On my first visit, I purchased beautiful globe-inspired bookends and a metal mug.

Some call thrift stores “junky” and think they’re filled with dusty knick-knacks that will just add clutter to your home. Seekers isn’t like that. One of the first things I noticed while I was looking around the store was the “usefulness” of the items. Many of the shop’s finds are simply antique replacements to everyday decorations or items that you would purchase in new stores.

I really like this shop. I have gotten several great items there. My favorite was a beautiful old wood door with great hardware. Shawna is so nice. If you love vintage you will love this shop.
