Cary, NC — The CaryCitizen calendar is packed this weekend with sewing classes, SpringFest, Dog Days, RailHawks soccer, free coworking, a pig pickin’ for the whole family and more.

An important Heart of Cary Association meeting will take place Thursday morning at 7:30 am at The Matthews House in Downtown Cary, as members and non-members are invited to learn about plans for a new downtown development over breakfast and coffee.
Do you have questions about our schools? Visit Bill Fletcher, WCPSS board member, for “Parent Chats” at the Cary Chamber from 1-2 pm the first Thursday of every month.
Spend some time outside after work by enjoying free, live music at Park West Village at 6 pm or an outdoor movie, Jurassic Park, for only $5 at Koka Booth Amphitheatre at 7 pm.
Do you want to learn how to sew? The Carolina Creative Center (C3) at Cary Towne Center will host a “Make a Tote Bag” sewing machine class for beginners for only $30 from 7-9 pm on Friday evening. Registration is required. This class repeats again from 2-4 pm on Saturday.

Enjoy another free day of coworking from 9 am-5 pm on Friday at Cary Coworking in Downtown Cary. Food trucks roll in at 4:30 pm for a laid-back after-work party.
Enjoy a free concert by Old North State Brass, a 12-member group from the Triangle, at Bond Park’s Sertoma Amphitheatre from 7-9 pm on Friday evening. Get there early for a good seat; food, pets, and lawn chairs are welcome.
The CaryPlaywrights Forum kicks off a new presentation tonight at the Cary Arts Center. Shows of Jane Austen Drinks the Young Wine, a play based off of Pride & Prejudice, are Friday, June 5 at 7:30 pm, Saturday, June 6 at 7 pm and Sunday, June 7th at 2 pm.
A Glow in the Park 5K will take place at WakeMed Soccer Park on Friday evening in Cary from 8-10:30 pm with an after-party to follow. Register online prior to June 4, 2014 or the afternoon of race day at Omega Sports in Morrisville.

Learn about home-schooling with the Cary HomeSchoolers Student Showcase, which takes place from 3-4:30 pm in Apex with fun and educational activities and information.
Morrisville’s SpringFest will take place on Town Hall Drive from 4-9 pm on Saturday evening. The family-friendly night includes carnival games, bounce houses, food trucks and more.
Support another great event at Bond Park today–the Cary-Kildaire Rotary Club’s annual pig pickin’ fundraiser from 4:30-7 pm, where you’ll enjoy food, live music, games and family fun.
Visit the NC Symphony for a “Totally 80’s” show at Koka Booth (tickets $35) or the Carolina RailHawks for a game against Minnesota at the WakeMed Soccer Park, both at 7:30 pm.

Across the Triangle
The Morning Times Market begins its first weekend of 2015 in Downtown Raleigh on Friday, June 5, 2015 from 6 pm-1 am. On Friday nights throughout the year, 10 E Hargett Street is home to local artisans, live music, entertainment and local craft beer. The event is free.
Enjoy Downtown Durham’s free concert series from 7-9 pm on Friday, June 5, 2015. This weekend, a Hickory Switch concert will take place at Brightleaf Square.
The 12th Annual Lavender Harvest Celebration will take place in Chapel Hill at Sunshine Lavender Farm on Saturday, June 6, 2015 from 9 am-5 pm and on Sunday, June 7, 2015 from 10 am-4 pm. Take a farm tour; learn about this fragrant, soothing herb, and how to care for it in your garden or in a container and take home some lavender-infused honey.
