July’s Heart of Cary meeting will take place on Thursday morning at 7:30 am at the Matthews House in Downtown Cary. This month, Cary “celebrities” Ted Boyd and Kyle Greer will discuss what they learned on their Greenville, South Carolina retreat.

On Thursday evening, The Hot Sardines will perform at Koka Booth Amphitheatre at 7:30 pm.

Watch The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 outside with your family on Friday evening as part of Koka Booth’s Movies by Moonlight Series. Tickets are only $5, and picnics (including beer and wine) are welcome. The movie starts at dusk (approximately 8 pm), but gates open at 7.

Take a free class at Garden Supply Company, Air Plants 101, on Saturday from 10 am-11 am. Author Megan George will teach participants about air plants and how to incorporate them into a terrarium. She will also provide signed copies of her new book, “Modern Terrarium Studio.”

Enjoy two grand opening celebrations in Cary–both of which start at 11 am on Saturday.

Beer lovers can visit Neighborhood Bottle Shop on Kildaire Farm Road for free beer, pizza and music until 10 pm. Families might enjoy a Family Fun Day celebration at Parkside Town Commons to celebrate the opening of CineBowl with face painting, crafts, games, prizes, fire truck exploring and more. This lasts until 2 pm.

Vom Fass at Waverly Place has teamed up with Red Hot & Blue to hold a special cookout from 11 am-2 pm on Saturday. Pulled pork, BBQ chicken, grilled veggies, slaws and salads will all feature Vom Fass artisan oils, vinegars and spices. This event is free.

Enjoy a free concert in Bond Park’s Sertoma Amphitheatre from 6-9 pm on Saturday. Blu-Bop, a Triangle-based seven-piece ensemble will perform the music of Bela Fleck and the Flecktones.

Reggae at Rally Point is tonight from 7-11 pm with a special island menu, a reggae band, fire-eaters, performers with juggling sticks, a hula hoop contest and drinks on the patio.

At 8 pm, The Three Davids will perform at the Cary Arts Center.

At 8:30 pm, enjoy another outdoor movie at Koka Booth under the stars. Tonight, it’s How to Train Your Dragon 2, a great family film.

Downtown Cary Food & Flea is back on Sunday from noon-4 pm in Ashworth Village (corner of Academy and Chatham streets). There will be craft beer, food trucks, crafts from local vendors, entertainment for kids and more.

Across the Triangle

The Durham Bulls will play at home this weekend on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Artsplosure’s first Second Sunday City Market Art Fair will take place on Sunday, July 12, 2015 from 11 am-6 pm at City Market, 206 E. Martin Street in Downtown Raleigh. This free-to-the-public art market will feature a jury-reviewed range of artists selling unique arts and crafts from painting, jewelry, woodworks and more.

Here’s a neat event in Cedar Grove, NC–on Sunday, July 12, 2015, from noon-4 pm, visit the Cedar Grove Blueberry Farm for their grand opening celebration. There will be a pig pickin’, fishing, music, yard games and food. You can even juice the blueberries you picked there.
