Editor’s Journal: Music at Bond Park & More

Editor’s Note: The weekly editor’s journal is a collection of photos, thoughts and events from last week that didn’t make it into stories of their own.

Cary, NC — My weekend in Cary consisted of outdoor music at Bond Park and Downtown Cary Food & Flea, a monthly Sunday afternoon festival in Ashworth Village.

Music at Bond Park

Whether you’re excited about it or not, fall is upon us, and I couldn’t help but realize that as I walked around Bond Park on Saturday evening. There was just something about the color of the sky and the grass in addition to a barely-there, but still noticeable, chill in the air.

Cary citizens were enjoying an outdoor concert at the Sertoma Amphitheatre, which was, appropriately, called Songs of the Fall. This Pincecone-sponsored show featured a sweet-sounding duo with celtic, delta blues and bluegrass influence. I was delighted to hear one of my favorite songs, Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This), and run into some friendly faces.

After listening to several songs, my puppy, Gatsby, and I went for a walk around Bond Park, which is as huge as it is beautiful. Families and groups of friends were fishing, lounging on blankets, playing ball and walking around enjoying the mild weather.

Doesn’t it look like fall to you, too?

Downtown Cary Food & Flea

I visited Downtown Cary on Sunday to walk around the Food & Flea festival, which takes place from noon-4 pm on the second Sunday of each month.

This month, there was a musician performing, a Korean food truck, an ice cream food truck and some colorful, creative homemade goods.
