Learn how your kids can walk and bike to school safely. Advocates for Health in Action (AHA) is hosting a workshop called Taking the First Step: Save & Active Routes to School at 5:30 pm at 110 Corning Road in Cary. A $10 registration includes dinner, an informative workshop, and a Safe & Active Routes to School in Wake County Toolkit to help you get started.
Get a jump on your holiday shopping at Garden Supply Co. on Old Apex Road in Cary. From 6-8 pm, you can Sip n’ Shop for holiday items while enjoying adult beverages.
Tonight is the last night to take a Wine Walk at Waverly Place. From 6-8:30 pm, you can taste wine, enjoy live music and shop for art and crafts.

Cary’s American Legion Post 67 is hosting a BBQ Dinner Fundraiser to support veterans on Friday from 11 am-6:30 pm at their 8523 Chapel Hill Road location in Cary. $9 per plate includes pork or chicken with potatoes, green beans, bread and a drink.
Meet Suzanne Adair, Brynn Bonner, and Art Taylor, three gifted mystery authors, at the Page-Walker Arts & History Center at 3 pm on Friday. This event is free.
Join Sister Cities of Cary for the 9th annual Beaujolais Wine Celebration on Friday at 6:30 pm at The Matthews House. The event features hors d’ouevres by Wake Tech culinary students, Beaujolais wines from Triangle Wine and a silent auction. Tickets are $35.
Enjoy a piano concert from Krzysztof Ksiazek, a competitor in the 2015 Chopin International Piano Competition in Warsaw, on Friday at 7:30 pm in the Cary Arts Center.

It’s America Recycles Day, which means that, from 9 am-1 pm, Cary residents can drop off a maximum of three boxes of financial documents and other papers needing shredding at the Garmon Center on James Jackson Ave. The Town of Cary will shred them for you.
Today is also Truck Day at Bright Horizons (Harrison Park location). From 10:30 am-12:30 pm, kids can explore a variety of vehicles and trucks up close and personal and enjoy activities, games, live music and food trucks. The best part is that there’s a charitable twist – the suggested entrance fee is a donation of $5 per child, adults are free, with all proceeds benefiting the Bright Horizons Foundation for Children.
Ten Thousand Villages just opened in Cary, and they’re celebrating their 20th year in the area with a grand opening celebration from 11 am-5 pm. There will be live music, food, giveaways, traveler’s find raffle, fair trade presentations, family fun and great shopping all day.
Five of North Carolina’s celebrated songwriters come together for a festive evening of original music at The Cary Theater on Saturday evening at 7:30 pm. Tickets for this Celebration of NC Songwriting are $18 for adults and $16 for students and seniors.
See The Whisky Runners, a local band, perform starting at 9:30 pm tonight at Doherty’s in Cary. There is no cover charge for the show.

Still feeling crafty? Garden Supply Co. is hosting a Holiday Terrarium Workshop from 3-4:30 pm. With the help of an instructor, you’ll learn how to create a live, holiday gift.

Enjoy a dinner out and live jazz music in Downtown Apex this weekend. On Saturday, November 14, 2015, at 7 pm, see a live jazz concert at the Halle Cultural Arts Center.
The show will feature internationally reowned Steinway Artist and Jazz Pianist Lenore Raphael with special guests Wayne Wilkinson on guitar and John Simonetti on bass.
