Weekend: Craft Fairs & the Raleigh Christmas Parade
Cary, NC — Many of Cary’s holiday events kick-off on this weekend-before-Thanksgiving, but there are plenty of other events on the calendar, too. Take a look.
Thursday, November 19, 2015
A collaborative effort between Wake County Human Services, Wake Health Services, and private and nonprofit health organizations from throughout Wake County will meet at the Cary Family YMCA from 6-7:30 pm to talk about the health of our community.
Enjoy wine as you make your own accent bow with an instructor at Garden Supply Co. at 6 pm. The cost of this workshop is $15. Call 919-387-3397 to register.

A Christmas tree lighting at Waverly Place takes place from 6-8:30 pm. Activities for the whole family will include ornament-making on the promenade, tasty treats, warm drinks, s’mores at the fire pits, and visits with Santa Claus.
Cary Visual Art’s annual Art Ball is tonight at 6:30 pm at Prestonwood County Club.
Stand-up comedian Kier, who is known for his hilarious impressions, will perform at The Cary Theater at 8 pm. Tickets are $15 and available online.

Ready to get some Christmas shopping done? You have plenty of choices today.
The Cary Senior Center’s Holiday Craft Fair is from 9 am-3 pm, and Green Hope’s Mistletoe Market is open from 11 am-3 pm.
Then, enjoy shopping for fun gifts and winning raffle prizes at Which Biz is Your Buzz?, a monthly market that gives home-based vendors a chance to sell their products while connecting with similar businesses. The market is open from 11 am-3 pm at Cary’s American Legion (8523 Chapel Hill Road in Cary).
The Triangle Wind Ensemble will present “Wanderlust,” a musical journey that evokes travels, both real and imagined, at the Cary Arts Center at 7:30 pm. There will be many different selections of music. Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for students and children.

Fit & Able’s Cozy Toes Run will team up with NSCU students and the Urban Ministries of Wake County to raise awareness and warm clothing for those who are homeless. This course is a one-mile loop, and runners will see how many laps they can make between 9-10:30 am. A $25 Omega Sports gift card will be given to male and female winners in a variety of categories.

Across the Triangle
The Raleigh Christmas Parade will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2015. This is the largest Christmas Parade between Washington, DC and Atlanta. The parade will start at 9:40 am on Hillsborough Street at St. Mary’s Street in Downtown Raleigh.
On Saturday, November 21, 2015, kids and families can enjoy a screening of Frozen at the Hampton Inn in Carrboro, 300 E. Main Street, followed by a snowy winter wonderland and hands-on crafts. Dressing up is encouraged.
The Durham Art Walk Holiday Market is Saturday, November 21, 2015 – Sunday, November 22, 2015 at the Durham Arts Council, Inc. Shoppers will find creative, locally handmade gifts of art, like jewelry and beautiful knitted scarves, loft-sized paintings and exquisite pottery. There will also be musical performances, great food and fun surprises around every corner.
