Sunday is rarely the busiest day of the weekend – but, this week, it is!

First, don’t miss Arbor Day, one of our favorite Cary events, from 1-3 pm in the Page-Walker gardens. Celebrate trees at this family-friendly event including education, entertainment and crafts for kids. Take home a free tree and enjoy one-on-one time with a certified arborist. There will be games, prizes and more.

If you missed yesterday’s Easter Egg Hunt, you can join Parkside Town Commons for their annual Easter Egg Hunt on Sunday. This event is free, and there will be over 18,000 eggs to find! Children 10 and under can hunt, and the entire family can enjoy a visit with the Easter Bunny, face painting, live music, bounce houses and games & prizes.

Then, the entire community is invited to a Jewish Cultural Festival at the Cary Senior Center from 2-5 pm. There will be crafts, music by Magnolia Klezmer Band, Purim foods, a carnival, Kosher food by Knish-a-licious, a costume contest and parade for kids and thoughtful discourse and learning for the adults. Bring a donation of a non-perishable food item for the Jewish Family Services Food Pantry in conjunction with the Interfaith Food Shuttle.

There’s another big event in Cary today, and it’s called Basant Bahar. This celebration heralds and celebrates the beginning of spring in the Triangle with Indian music and dance. This event is free and starts at 4 pm at the arts center.

Across the Triangle

Durham’s Easter Egg Hunt will begin on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 10 am at West Point on the Eno (5101 N. Roxboro Road). Following the egg hunts, there will be crafts, games, face painting and a chance to meet the Easter Bunny.

Or, take a guided tour of the North Carolina Botanical Garden at 10 am on Saturday morning. On this 60 minute tour, participants will experience the beauty of plants native to North Carolina. You will learn about native wildflowers and how they can be used in the home landscape, explore a longleaf pine forest in our Sandhills Habitat Garden, a wet savannah in our Coastal Plain Habitat Garden, a mountain bog and an amazing native carnivorous plants collection. This event is free.

The PineCone Kid Jam at Marbles Kids Museum in downtown Raleigh is on Sunday, March 20, 2016 from 2:30-4 pm. Young musicians 18 and under can enjoy finger-picking, toe-tapping bluegrass music. Kids can bring their instruments and play along or just get an up-close look at instruments, make a scrap-instrument to take home and enjoy the music.
