Spring 2016: Fashion Show at Peachy Keen

Cary, NC – Bright colors, fun fringe and tight-fitting jeans wowed the crowd Wednesday night at the “Aloha” Spring fashion show at The Peachy Keen in Harrison Point.

Creative director Karly Hankin put together a show that opened with lots of splashy bright color and segued to groups of Americana and neutrals before ending with an all-white grouping of mixed textures in dresses and tops.

The evening took its theme from the bright splash of coral that is the big fashion color this season. The store’s team expanded on the theme with a huge Hawaiian wreath at the head of the runway and continued with pineapples and palm trees everywhere you looked.

Before the show began, Steve Holcomb serenaded the crowd on guitar and artist Linda Nguyen painted a cool tropical scene at the foot of the runway. Hairstylists from Twisted Scizzors were braiding patrons hair, a grass luau selfie wall was set up by the door and bartenders were serving up peach mimosas to the crowd to get guests in the tropical mood.

The evening was also a benefit for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Triangle. Proceeds from ticket sales, a silent auction and a percentage of all goods sold during the evening went to the non-profit organization who also provided some models and volunteers for the event.

Spring 2016 Fashion Trends

Americana: This look is great for summer. With patriotic holidays starting in May with Memorial Day, then July 4 and Labor Day, you know you want something that fits the holiday, yet you still want to look stylish. Peachy Keen sent out a group of red, white and blue looks with a vintage vibe that didn’t scream stars and bars, but would fit right in at that festive neighborhood party. Placement prints, fringed T-shirts and dresses with flirty peplum hems could work for everyone.

White on White: With the warm weather we experience here in Cary, Karly pointed out that white can be worn anytime. She sent out looks from lace dresses and tops to white jeans work with white knit flyaway cardigans.

Fringe: This trim detail is here! T-shirts with tied fringe hems, faux suede 60s vibe vests, knitted fringe on ponchos. Whether it’s hippie influenced or more demure, fringe detailing was seen on a variety of styles and did not look costume-y. Try one item this season and it will update your wardrobe.

Tropical: New in more bright monotones, the show opened with a variety of hot pinks and corals and turquoise blues – but not in traditional Hawaiian prints. These were more subtle with blue on turquoise, or navy on white. Much of the color was from bright solids.

Accessories: Wedge heels and platforms were shown with almost every outfit, mostly in neutral colors. Thin chained necklaces and hoops and hair was braided and up in loosely styled buns.

Once again Peachy Keen made a memorable evening for all who attended. Guests sampled food from Z Pizza, Maximilian’s, BlackFinn, sipped drinks from Triangle Wine and bid on an assortment of great gifts and spa treatments –all while benefitting Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Triangle.
