Weekend Events: Herbfest, Mother’s Day and Beer
Cary, NC – So far, April showers have just brought more May showers but this weekend should see some sunny weather return to the area. And you can take advantage of that bright weather with all the events going on in Cary.

Cinco de Mayo: The Battle will be playing at the Cary Downtown Theater with English subtitles. With so many celebrating the holiday, take time this Cinco de Mayo to learn about the real history of the famous Mexican victory over the French. The show starts at 7 PM.
Money Matters is a talk on financial planning and debt management. Stephen Barrington will speak at the West Regional Library at 7 PM and anyone can come and learn about financial independence, though registration is recommended.
Live at Lunch‘s artist of the week is classic rock duo “My Cousin Skinny.” Come hear local music on the lawn of the Ivey Ellington House, adjacent to Ashworth Village, starting at 11:30 AM. Picnic tables will be provided. This event is free.

The Chatham Street Wine Market Event starts at 5 PM to commemorate the six-month anniversary of the wine market opening. There will be food from the Qspresso Food Truck, a raffle and, of course, wine. The event is at the Chatham Street Wine Market.
Pink Magnolia Boutique, Halies Boutique, and Paisley Boutique are partnering to put on a Charity Spring Fashion Show. Proceeds go to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Afterwards, there will be drinks and hors d’oeuvres at Pink Magnolia Boutique. It starts at 6 PM by the Coldstone Creamery at 1170 Parkside Main St. Tickets can be purchased at the event or from any of the boutiques for a reduced, advance price.

The 7th Annual Herbfest is this Saturday starting at 9 AM. Learn all about planting and gardening, plus there will be a butterfly release, a silent auction, food and more. Herbfest is at the Page-Walker Arts & History Center.
Starting at 7 PM, see What! No Beer? and Brewconomy back-to-back at The Cary Theater. Brewconomy is a local documentary about the craft beer industry in North Carolina and What! No Beer? is a classic Buster Keaton comedy about prohibition. In between the showings, there will be a lecture from Whit Baker of Bond Brothers Beer Co.
Mac’s Tavern will have a night of bluegrass music starting at 8 PM. Come see local bluegrass musicians play their favorites, featuring The Grass Cats.

Mother’s Day is this Sunday, so if your mom or another important mom in your life is in the area, go take her out for something nice. Or treat yourself to a brunch. Everyone loves a little brunch.
Downtown Cary Food & Flea will be at Ashworth Village, with food trucks, local beers, music, vintage items and more. It all starts at noon and goes until 4 PM.
If brunch isn’t your thing on Mother’s Day, how about Breakfast at Tiffany’s? The classic Audrey Hepburn movie will play at The Cary Theater at 2 PM. Go see it and gain a new appreciation for that Deep Blue Something song.

Raleigh’s City Ballet will be performing their 2016 Spring Recital. The ballet is performing both Friday and Saturday, May 6-7, at Wakefield High School.
