Weekend Events: Fest in the West, Downtown Concerts and More
Cary, NC – This weekend is CaryCitizen’s very own Fest in the West and we know you will all be headed out there. But for the rest of your weekend, here are some of the events going down as listed on the CaryCitizen Calendar.

Live at Lunch is still going strong in Downtown Cary. If you are visiting or looking for one of the town’s local restaurants, take the time to stop by the Ivey-Ellington house and hear live music from local artist Chris Overstreet at 11:30 AM. It’s free to attend and there are picnic tables available.
Live in the District is a perfect late-night follow-up to Live and Lunch. Starting at 6 PM, come to Park West Village to hear music from local artist Kasey Tyndall. There will also be events for kids and beer for adults, with proceeds going to local charities.
Fever Dreams is a horror movie shot entirely in North Carolina, with local producers and actors involved. This Cary Theater debut at 7 PM is the first ever screening of the film and the director is looking for feedback from the community. Reserve a free ticket soon.

Flamenco at Fresca is live music at the Fresca Café at Colonnades Way. Starting at 6 PM, hear Ed Stephenson and Cat Albanese play Spanish and Nuevo Flemenco music. There may even be an opportunity for a little bit of dancing.
Cary High School IMProv has its final event this Friday at 7 PM. Improv teachers will be taking on their students to see just how much they have learned. The event will be in the Cary High auditorium and admission is $2.
The Cary Town Band is playing a concert this Friday at the Cary Arts Theater at 7:30 PM. Think that’s a little sparse on information? That’s because the theme of this event is “Surprise, Surprise!” with no details on music released, aside from the promise of one Haydn piece. The concert is free so go see what all the mystery is about.

Wheels on Academy is back for its fifth year. Come see vintage cars on Academy Street, starting at 9 AM. There will also be other entertainment and food available and the show is free.
The Rock Your World Benefit Concert is in its sixth year with music from N.C. artists Nantucket, Band of Brothers, Kyle Scobie and Kaylin Roberson. Proceeds go to Hope for Haiti Foundation and Franconi Anemia Research Fund. There will also be food and drinks available, as well as a silent auction and a book drive for Haitian students. It starts at 6 PM at the RallyPoint Sport Grill on 837 Bass Pro Ln.
Russell Peters is performing stand-up comedy at Booth Amphitheater as part of his “Almost Famous” tour. Peters is an internationally renowned comedian, from his native Canada to the United Kingdom, throughout Europe, Southeast Asia and beyond. The show starts at 8 PM.
And of course, this Saturday is Fest in the West at Parkside Town Commons, created and produced by CaryCitizen.

Terrariums and Fairy Gardens is a class to help anyone learn how to make small gardens, including all the basics of building, design and care. The class is at the Garden Supply Co. and starts at 2 PM. You must register at the Garden Supply Co. website and there is a fee for supplies.
The Concert Singers of Cary put on their final show of the season at The Matthews House 317 W Chatham St. Starting at 3 PM, come hear the music of Bach and Schultz, as well as backing instrumentation from the NC Baroque Orchestra. There will be a wine and cheese reception afterwards with the artists.
The Triangle Brass Band will be playing at the Cary Arts Center with Principal Percussionist Matthew Barbee. Featured music includes Past Time With Good Company by Henry VIII, Dimitri Shostakovich’s Festive Overture and selections from Verdi’s Requiem Mass. The show starts at 7 PM with tickets online.

Across the Triangle
Artsplosure is all this weekend in Raleigh. Located in Moore Square, you will be able to see more than 100 arts and crafts vendors showing off their works and their passions. It goes from 11 AM to 10 PM on Friday and Saturday and 10 AM to 7 PM on Sunday.
Kenny Chesney, country music icon, will be performing in Raleigh. Starting at 7:30 PM, you can hear Chesney play at the Walnut Creek Amphitheater.
Moogfest is this weekend in Durham. Not only will there be performances from artists such as Grimes, Sunn O))), GZA and more, but there will be talks on subjects such as transhumanism, art and artificial intelligence and instruments of the future.
