Starlight Concert Series
Page-Walker Arts & History Center Garden, 119 Ambassador Loop
Friday, July 8, 7 PM
Starlight Concert Series has been taking place on select Fridays since May and is nearing its end. After this Friday, there’s just one more concert, which will be on July 29. The concert this Friday features The Lounge Doctors, an acoustic guitar/piano duo that plays a mash-up of rock and blues ranging from Led Zeppelin to Etta James. You can bring food and lawn chairs. No alcoholic beverages or pets.
In the event of bad weather, The Lounge Doctors will play inside Page-Walker.
Sertoma Concert Series
Sertoma Amphitheatre in Bond Park, 801 High House Rd.
Friday, July 8, 6 PM
This installment of the Sertoma Concert Series is sponsored in part by PineCone, an organization that supports traditional music across the Triangle. The Harris Brothers, a sibling duo from Western North Carolina, will play both original songs and their arrangements of traditional tunes.

Beginning readers can gain confidence by reading to dogs, who are excellent listeners and don’t correct kids’ pronunciation. The dogs love it too. No need to register; just drop by the library and your child can read to a certified therapy dog. This event takes place the second Saturday of the month.

Stop by either Publix in Cary and sample some delicious ice cream sandwiches.
Wind Down Wednesdays

Wednesday, July 13, 6 PM to 9 PM
Every Wednesday through July 27, Waverly Place is the place to spend your evening. The highlight is the live music — this week it’s Spare Change, a party music band. Kids can play on the two playgrounds and cool off at the splash pad. The shops and restaurants will be open and many will be offering Wind Down Wednesday specials. Bring a lawn chair and relax. No outside alcohol, glass containers or coolers are allowed.
Family Summer Camp
Bass Pro Shops, 801 Bass Pro Ln.
Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday
Through July 24, Bass Pro Shops will be offering family activities every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. Check Bass Pro Shops’ website for the times for each events, but in general the activities start at noon and continue through the afternoon. They include workshops on archery, camping, gardening, fishing and more, as well as crafts, a Daisy BB shooting range and a casting challenge.
