Weekend Events: Art Loop, Disc Golf and More
Cary, NC – We’re not that far away from the Summer being over so get the best out of the season while you still can with some great, fun events around town this weekend.

The Cary Theater is playing one of the most talked-about documentaries of the year, “In Pursuit of Silence,” which is about the struggle and journey of people around the world who are looking for places to be quiet. That film starts at 7 PM. Also playing on Thursday at the Cary Theater is “Hello, My Name Is Doris” starring Sally Field, playing at 2 PM.
The first of two Open House Meetings for the public to give their thoughts on the town’s Imagine Cary proposals is this Thursday. At 5:30 PM, meet at the Herb Young Community Center to learn about Cary’s ideas for the future and give your feedback. There is also an event on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at the same location and time.
The Fine Arts League of Cary is having its monthly meeting at 7:30 PM. The group promotes and nurtures both artists and fans of the arts, meeting at the Cary Arts Center in Downtown Cary.

Final Friday Art Loop is going on all around the town, with shows at galleries, museums and other Cary centers, all starting at 6 PM. Check out the Cary Art Loop website for a full list of locations and shows.
Jamrock will be performing at the Page-Walker Arts and History Center this Friday. The band mixes a variety of styles of music from Jamaica, including dancehall, reggae, roots and more. The show starts at 7 PM and is free and open to the public.
Ride and Imbibe to End MS is a unique fundraiser for MS research. Meeting at the Right Fit Club on Kildaire Farm Road, participants will ride exercise cycles, as well as do yoga and crossfit. After the event, there will be pizza and beer. The event starts at 7 PM.

Part One of the Disc Golf Tournament is this Saturday, hosted by the Cary Area Disc League. On Saturday, the random draw doubles will be going on at Wake Med Soccer Park. Registration is day-of only and starts at 1 PM.
The Barnes & Noble on Maynard Road is holding a Harry Potter Countdown for the midnight release of the eighth installment in the Harry Potter series with “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Pts. 1 and 2.” The store will open at 7 PM and have Harry Potter-themed activities, including a chance to win a limited edition print of Harry Potter books.
The Kappas of Cary Presents an Evening of Jazz featuring Connie McCoy of Mo Jazz Music. The proceeds of this event will support local high school students that are college bound with scholarships as part of the Kappas of Cary Scholarship Gala. It’s at the Cary Theater, starting at 8 PM.

Part Two of the Disc Golf Tournament start at 8 AM on Sunday at Wake Med Soccer Park. Hosted by the Cary Area Disc League, registration is open now for amateurs and professionals.
City of Gold is playing at the Cary Theater at 2 PM. It is the documentary on the Pulitzer Prize-winning food critic Jonathan Gold, who takes the audience on a tour of his native Los Angeles. There is also a screening on Friday, July 29 at 9 PM.
The Chatham Street Chowdown is back in Downtown Cary, stretching from the intersection of Academy Street and Chatham Street to the intersection of Templeton and Chatham Street. It starts at 5 PM, with performances from The Whiskey Runners from 5-7 PM and the EG Peters Band from 7:30-9:30 PM.

Around the Triangle
Stand-up comedian Lil Duval is headlining five shows at Goodnight’s Comedy Club this weekend as part of his Inappropriately Funny Tour. Shows start at different times throughout the weekend.
This Friday begins a series of performances of Shakespeare’s Henry VI, which is a condensed version of all three parts of Henry VI, focusing on the War of the Roses. The performance is redone daily on the weekends after the Friday show, starting at 8 PM on Thursday and Fridays and 5 PM on Saturdays and Sundays at the Raleigh Municipal Rose Garden.
Durham’s Ward Theater is starting its late Summer play, I Wish You A Boat. It is an original piece created by Creative Director Wendy Ward. The show starts at 8 PM on Fridays and Saturdays and 3 PM on Sundays.
