Weekend Events: Music, Arts and Bourbon

Cary, NC – Bad news: it looks like there is going to be a lot of rain and lightning this weekend. Good news: there are lots of fun things to do this weekend safely indoors and the weather should be clearing by Saturday and Sunday anyway! So here are some of the weekend events that are coming up.

Thursday, August 4, 2016

Science on Screen is going on at the Cary Theater. Following the 7 PM screening of The Secret Life of Bees, there will be a discussion led by Marc Larin, Program Chair for Wake County Bee Keepers Association.

The Cary Photographic Artists are meeting also at the Cary Theater at 7:30 PM. This meeting is a chance for Cary photographers and photographic artists to network, show some of their work and hear a talk led by leading area photographers.

It’s Bluegrass Night at Mac’s Tavern on Ryan Road. Starting at 8 PM, hear The Grass Cats play the great, relaxed music rooted in local culture.

The Olympics Opening Ceremony will be going on in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. All of us at CaryCitizen are obviously elite-level athletes but don’t believe in competition so we will not be there. If like us, you will not be in Brazil, you can watch the opening ceremonies via live-streaming at the Cary Theater for free, starting at 7 PM.

Eight local photographers will be presenting their art exhibits at In The Footsteps Of… at the Halle Cultural Arts Center in Apex at 8 PM. For more art exhibits on Friday, Brian Moyer will have a reception for his natural landscape paintings at the Bond Park Community Center, starting at 6 PM.
