Scavenger Hunt Teams Can Donate to Non-Profits For Bonus Points

Cary, NC – The Cary Scavenger Hunt connects people in so many ways, but did you know there’s three area non-profits that will directly benefit this year?

That’s right, teams can connect and help three Triangle-based non-profit organizations when they participate in the 2016 Cary Scavenger Hunt. Every donation can help teams earn points while helping their community. And the best part? Many of these items are already in your house. Just bring them to morning check-in where these non-profits will have booths and be able to meet you and collect the items you have brought.

Earn Points For Your Donations

The Cary Scavenger Hunt has partnered with area non-profits since the earliest days of our event, beginning in 2010 with the Cary Community Foundation and Dorcas Ministries. We enjoy the good works these organizations do right here in our community. By bringing them to the event, we help our teams learn a little bit more about their good works.

Dorcas Ministries has been an event partner since the very first Hunt took place in July 2010. Teams can donate non-perishable food items at the morning check-in. For every item donated, they will receive points added to their score. Dorcas Ministries is located right here in Cary, and has been helping people in Cary and Morrisville with their food pantry, thrift store, job training, and soon, a medical clinic.

Kramden Institute joined the fun in 2014 when they loaned our team twenty laptops to use in our scoring. In return, CaryCitizen has given them a booth at the morning check-in, where teams can drop off used laptops, desktop computers, cell phones and other electronics. Each team will get a tax receipt to show our judges for their extra points. Kramden is located off NC-55 close to Cary and has donated thousands of computers and training for children throughout the state that do not have access at home.

Operation Eagle is a relatively new non-profit started by the folks at United Drug Supply in Morrisville. They send care packages to military personnel stationed overseas. This year, teams can bring white crew socks which will help our troops keep their feet safe and dry. Points will be given for each pair of socks donated. United Drug Supply works directly with our nation’s military and this non-profit is an offshoot of their work.

Teams are not obligated to donate; it is completely voluntary. But we have found our team members like to do good in their community and a few extra points has become a great incentive. The non-profit organizations really appreciate the exposure and the items they receive. And the process is very simple. A WIN-WIN for everyone.
