Cary, NC – This weekend is the biggest Cary event of the year, the Cary Scavenger Hunt on Saturday, September 17, 2016. But to fill the rest of your weekend, we’ve got you covered with some fun events.

Thursday, September 15, 2016

Live at Lunch is a free outdoor music event in downtown Cary. Head to Fidelity Plaza at the intersection of Academy and Chatham Street and hear local musicians play, starting at 11:30 AM.

It’s Ladies Night at Parkside Town Commons on O’Kelly Chapel Road. There will be special deals, open houses, plus snacks and drinks. It runs from 6 to 9 PM.

filmSPARK, the Triangle’s local film festival, starts on Thursday with the first day at the Cary Theater. You will be able to see short films made by North Carolinians plus the documentary “Wilmington on Fire.” It’s free and starts at 7 PM.

Morrisville Movies is a free outdoor movie event in Morrisville Community Park. They will be screening “Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens” at 5:30 PM. There will also be food trucks there.

The Cary Town Band will be playing a free outdoor concert. Come out the the Sertoma Amphitheater for this full moon show at 7:30 PM.

The Cary Theater is hosting stand-up comedians Michael Harrison and Ben Jones. Harrison has performed across North America and got first place in the Hamilton Great Canadian Laugh Off and Jones is an up-and-coming comedian with a dark sense of humor and lots of charisma. They perform at 8 PM.

The Cary Scavenger Hunt is this Saturday, starting at 9 AM at the Page-Walker Center. If you haven’t registered yet, you have until 9 PM on Friday so get on it if you haven’t already.

The Dragon Boat Festival is a big celebration of Asian culture in Cary. Come see dragon boats race, live music and dance performances and all kinds of food vendors and booths at Koka Booth Amphitheater, starting at 9:30 AM.

The Fabulous Equinox Orchestra will be performing at the Cary Arts Center. This high-energy band will be playing a mix of American Songbook, Motown and New Orleans jazz. The show starts at 7:30 PM.

Garden Supply Co. is holding a class on how to make fairy gardens and terrariums. Bring your own containers or select one from their greenhouse. The class is at Garden Supply Co. and starts at 2 PM. Register on their website.

Tai Chi classes are now starting at the West Regional Library. At 2 PM, come to this free class to learn about Tai Chi and get some basic movements from Taoist practitioners.

Around The Triangle

Rock and Roast is a fundraiser for Read and Feed which provides mobile classrooms where at-risk elementary school children get access to meals, reading tutors and books to build home libraries. The fundraiser will have food, music and more, all at Marbles in Raleigh at 5:30 PM on Thursday.

Late Night Tonite is a live comedy talk show in Raleigh, with music, comedy sketches, local celebrities, all hosted by April Dudash. It takes place at ComedyWorx on Friday at 10 PM.

CenterFest Arts Festival is an outdoor arts festival in Downtown Durham’s City Center. It’s Saturday and Sunday from 11 AM to 5 PM. There is also music and arts by more than 70 performing arts groups.
