Another Gas Shortage May Be Coming to Cary
Cary, NC – If you remember earlier this September, a pipeline leak resulted in long lines and low supplies for gasoline in Cary. Now a pipe explosion may do the same.

On Monday, October 31, 2016, an explosion at a Colonial Pipeline in Alabama killed at least one worker and has resulted in the pipeline being shut down. Colonial is the same company whose pipeline leak caused the shortage around Friday, September 9, 2016.
As a result of this latest accident, supplies of gasoline to Cary and North Carolina in general will likely be slowed down. Communities deeper south near Alabama are already experiencing shortages and price increases. The extent of the damage to the pipeline is undetermined in this case so it is possible it could be longer than September’s.
If you can, fill up your car today before the shortages come in the following days and try to drive as little as possible or carpool during that time. Some stations, however, may only run out of a certain kind of gas, as happened in September when stations would either only cary Premium or Regular.
September also resulted in more than 1,000 reports of price gouging to the Attorney General’s office. To report price gouging at gas stations, go to NCDOJ.gov or call 877-5-NO-SCAM.

One of the most important messages from Gov. McCrory and others is that we should NOT all go out and fill up our gas tanks! That’s what caused the Sept. shortage and it will happen again if we follow the bad advice in this article. Only buy gas when you need it!
