Weekend Events: Ballet, Holiday Concerts and More
Cary, NC – Now’s the time in the year when free time gets taken up with holiday shopping. But if you manage to eke out some time for yourself, here are some fun weekend events for you to enjoy.

Conversations with Bubbie is an opportunity for anyone interested in Yiddish to learn from fluent speakers. This is an introductory class, taking place at the Carolina Preserve at Amberly at 11 AM.
It’s Ladies Night at Parkside Town Commons, with open houses, special deals, food and wine and more. It all starts at 6 PM.
The Nutcracker will be performed by the Cary Ballet Conservatory all this weekend, starting with the 7 PM performance on Thursday. They all take place at the Cary Arts Center, including two one-hour suites on Friday and Saturday morning.

Magical Winter Lights is an event to see holiday lights all over Park West Village in Morrisville in creative shapes. It starts at 6 PM and is also going on Saturday and Sunday at the same time.
White Christmas starts at the Cary Theater this Friday at 7 PM. There are five screenings from Friday to Sunday as people are encouraged to sing along with this classic movie. All screenings are sold out so if you didn’t pick one up, there’s always next year!
Winterfest ’16 is a performance by the Cary Town Band with music for Christmas, Chanukah, New Year’s and more, all at the Cary Senior Center starting at 7:30 PM.

Which Biz Is Your Buzz is a holiday shopping event complete with raffles and other fun events. Also, proceeds go to veterans charities. It starts at 11 AM and takes place at 8523 Chapel Hill Rd.
If you need help wrapping presents, you can go to Cary Senior Center at 10 AM or Crossroads Plaza at noon. The Cary Teen Council will be at the Cary Senior Center and Second Chance Pet Adoption will be at Crossroads Plaza with opportunities for a donation.
The Concert Singers of Cary will be performing Part One of Handel’s Messiah, which has come to be a Christmas classic over the past centuries. They are playing with the North Carolina Baroque Orchestra, starting at 7:30 PM at Apex’s Halle Cultural Arts Center.

This Sunday, you can catch many of the events from earlier in the week, from the Nutcracker to White Christmas to Magical Winter Lights at Parkside Town Commons to a repeat of Second Chance Pet Adoption’s gift-wrapping at Crossroads Plaza.
Also, the Chinese Lantern Festival continues through December into January 2017 at Koka Booth Amphitheater.

Around The Triangle
Bluegrass Christmas Festival is a performance by popular area bands including the Grass Cats and Sideline at the Hilton North Raleigh Midtown, plus workshops for aspiring bluegrass musicians and hobbyists. It starts at 1 PM and stretches from Thursday, December 15 to Saturday, December 17, 2016.
The North Carolina Museum of History will be displaying the original copy of the Bill of Rights that was sent to North Carolina when the Constitution was first ratified. The state archivist will talk visitors through the history of the 225-year-old document in this display that will go until Sunday, December 18, 2016.
A Trailer Park Christmas is being performed by Durham’s Common Ground Theatre, made by locals Jeffrey Moore and Rachel Klem. It takes place on Friday and Saturday this week, with times varying between dates.
