Cary, NC – The first Downtown Cary Food and Flea of 2019 is this Sunday in an event-filled weekend. There is stand-up comedy on Friday, a couples’ race event on Saturday and much more.

The Cary Theater is playing Oscar-nominated films all month long, starting this Thursday with a screening of “BlacKkKlansman” at 2 and 7 PM.

The Heart of Cary Association is holding an networking meeting. This meeting is open to non-members and is for people living or working in Downtown Cary. It starts at 5:30 PM at the Mayton Inn.

The Cary Town Council has their regular meeting this Thursday at Town Hall. These meetings are open to the public and are a way to learn about what is going on in town. The meeting starts at 6:30 PM.

The Cary Senior Center hosts “Jazz with your Juice,” a breakfast jazz concert with the East Cary Middle School jazz band. It is for residents aged 55 and older and starts at 10 AM.

Parents’ Night Out is an opportunity for parents to leave their children with the Town of Cary and the Cary Teen Council while they have a romantic night out ahead of Valentine’s Day. There will be games, arts, crafts and pizza. It takes place at the Herbert C. Young Community Center on Friday, February 8 from 5:30 to 9:30 PM. Children must be toilet-trained.

The Cary Theater hosts stand-up comedians Grant Lyon and Caitlin Peluffo in a comedy show presented by the Town of Cary. The show starts at 8 PM.

Saturday, February 9, 2019

Sole Mates is a couples race event, with 5K and 10K runs, presented by Fit & Able Productions. It takes place at WakeMed Soccer Park at 11 AM on Saturday, February 9.

The Taylor Family YMCA is holding its Jump Rope Clinic for children aged six to 16. All skill levels are welcome as participants learn from the YMCA Super Skippers. Free jump ropes are provided and it starts at 1 PM.

Love Bears All is a fundraising dance at White Plains United Methodist Church. There will be dinner, games and dancing as the event raises money for UNC’s Children’s Hospital. It starts at 5:30 PM with registration online.

Downtown Cary Food and Flea is this Sunday at Fidelity Plaza at the intersection of Chatham and Academy Street. Shop for local arts, crafts, food, drinks and hear local music, running from noon to 4 PM.

West Regional Library is holding a poetry reading, focusing on teaching listeners about alliteration, assonance, consonance, euphony, and repetition. The reading is led by Lenard Moore, poetry and founder of the Carolina African American Writers’ Collective. No registration required and the reading starts at 3 PM.

Around the Triangle

Theatre in the Park in Raleigh is hosting both David Ira Wood III and David Ira Wood IV in a performance of David Mamet’s “A Life in the Theatre” about two actors at the start and end of their careers. The show runs all weekend long at various times.

The Ritz in Raleigh hosts band “Andrew McMahon In The Wilderness” this Saturday. McMahon will perform with bands Flor and Grizfolk, all starting at 7:30 PM.

The Durham Performing Arts Center hosts “An Evening of Entertainment” with students from the Durham Public School system performing music and dance in a massive showcase. It starts at 7:30 PM on Friday.
