Cary’s First Wegmans Now Under Construction
Cary, NC – Before Wegmans opens in the Fenton development, the Northeast supermarket chain will open its first store in Cary, and one of the first stores in all of North Carolina.
Cary’s first Wegmans, located in West Cary on the corner of Davis Drive and Airport Boulevard, is now under construction. Trees on the site are cleared and foundation is being laid.
There are currently no Wegmans stores anywhere in North Carolina, though there is one store planned to open in late 2019 in Raleigh, off of Interstate 440.
Wegmans officials are still saying the planned opening date for the Davis Drive Wegmans is 2020, and that is after the store’s size shrank from 130,000 square feet to 103,000 square feet, which also shrinks the amount of parking, including plans for an underground parking lot.
This store will anchor the new Twin Lakes shopping center, which will include other stores such as Andy’s Frozen Custard, Great Clips, Hollywood Feed, a pediatrics clinic and a SunTrust bank among others.
The other planned Wegmans in Cary will be part of Fenton. While the entire mixed-use district will not finish construction until around 2024, the first phase is set to be completed by mid-2020 and Wegmans is part of that section.
There are also two other Wegmans planned for Chapel Hill and Wake Forest in 2020.

Looking forward to this and other Wegmans openings in the Carolinas.
