Monday, I met with the town manager for about half an hour. We talked about a few things including the upcoming election.
Cary, NC – This week was a holiday week so there was not a lot going on.
My final meeting on Monday was with the town manager and the Mayor Pro-Tem. Items discussed included the future Hotel Occupancy and Meals Tax, the Fenton development, the mall redevelopment, and Epic Games. Our meeting concluded after about thirty minutes.
Monday I participated in a meeting of the Wake County Mayors Association. Of the twelve Wake County mayors only three were absent. Those were the mayors of Apex, Raleigh, and Wendell. We were hosted by the mayor of Fuquay Varina with a catered dinner from Garibaldi in their new Performing Arts Center.

Monday started with an attempt to contact council members about Thursday’s agenda. I was able to contact all council members but one. In my one-on-one conversations, council members decided to pull the Weldon Ridge and Weston rezonings from the Consent agenda for discussion.
Monday evening I joined council members Smith, Frantz, Yerha, and George at the Booth amphitheater for the Honor a Teacher Awards Ceremony put on by the Cary Chamber of Commerce. Each school with Cary students had five nominations with one winner picked that received $1000 and over $800 for school supplies. The money for the school supplies was provided by the North Carolina Legislators. The money for the awards was provided by various business sponsors including the Town of Cary.
Monday I attended the Cary Chamber’s elected official’s reception. In attendance were Cary council members, Wake County School board members, judges, and NC Representative Gale Adcock who escaped budget meetings long enough to thank everyone. In my brief remarks I talked about how no one politician can get anything done by themselves. It takes working together to get anything done.
Monday town management received a phone message from a representative regarding plans to purchase Lord Corporation. The following are details of the $3.6B purchase.
