Cary, NC – The Mellow Mushroom, what many believe to be the best pizza restaurant in the Triangle, is set to open in Cary on September 26.

Mushroom Rising

The opening date was announced on Mellow Mushroom’s Facebook page. Like it!

The new restaurant is at the corner of Cary Parkway and High House Road, across from McDonald’s and Lowe’s supermarket. It’s in the same shopping area as La Farm Bakery and the ABC store.

The building Mellow Mushroom has been renovating formerly housed a succession of eateries including Jasper’s, Chuck Em’s, Mama Mia, Ocean Grill and Giorgio’s.

Where others have failed at this corner, count on the Mushroom to prevail.

It would be interesting to create a google map of vacant retail and office space in Cary and imagine how investments in transit, complete streets infrastructure such as crosswalks and better connected greenways could create pedestrian friendly neighborhoods that were supportive of their local businesses. Perhaps a Weaver Street or Earth Fare Grocery Store could go in the K-mart location?

Earthfare would be great- but of course all that’s up to who owns the buildings and the developers who shop for space

Now we just need to get something good in the K-mart space at Maynard and Kildaire Farm – anyone have any scoop on that?

Let’s hope this one does better then all the other 9 restaurants that have tried to make it over there. The word is the owner of that property is a real a—- and the rent is way too high for anyone to make any profit.
Think he just wants to use it as a loss and doesn’t care how many restaurants come and go.
It’s a shame because it’s a good location and a nice size restaurant.
