On Thursday, Booth Amphitheatre presents The Help, part of the Movies by Moonlight series.

This 2011 Academy Award winner stars Emma Stone and is the story of an aspiring author during the civil rights movement of the 1960s who decides to write a book detailing the African-American maids’ point of view on the white families for which they work.

Movies by Moonlight are free for kids 12 and under, $3 for adults. Movies begin around dusk. Picnics welcome!

Here’s something different: Wine & Design. It’s a chance for beginners and experts to do a little painting, enjoy a calm evening in a beautiful spot, and maybe drink a little vino.

Our local, professional artists guide you stroke-by-stroke to complete a 16×20 masterpiece. At the end of the night, you go home with a work of art and great memories to share!

Special Screening of Brave – This Saturday at 10 AM, Regal Cinema at Brier Creek and The Mariposa School for Children with Autism will team up to bring families affected by autism and other disabilities a special opportunity to enjoy Pixar’s newest film, Brave, in a safe and accepting environment.

To provide a more accepting and comfortable setting for this unique audience, the movie auditoriums will have their lights brought up and the sound turned down. Additionally, audience members are welcome to get up and dance, walk, shout or sing – in other words, the “silence” policy will not be enforced unless the safety of the audience is questioned. Tickets are available through The Mariposa School and will be $7.00 each.  More info on the Calendar.

Cool John Ferguson – Free concert with the legendary Durham bluesman at Sertoma Amphitheatre in Bond Park. Here’s how Cool John describes himself: “You can hear some of that gospel flavor in my playing, a lot of traditional African music mixed with the field and spiritual music. A lot of my people came out of the Gullah tradition, with roots in Western Africa, hard work and a hard life on the plantations, and worship in praise houses. I was featured entertainer for Lowcountry Sing on Channel 5, Charleston SC, for three years, appearing with the Ferguson Sisters, an outstanding gospel trio.” 6-8 PM.

RailHawks vc FC Edmonton – The Hawks are on fire with 5 wins in the last six outings. They’ll be facing FC Edmonton at 7 PM on Saturday at Wake Med Soccer Park. Tickets: CarolinaRailhawks.com

A Fifth of Blues – One of the Triangle’s most popular blues, soul and R&B bands will be back in Cary Saturday night at RallyPoint on N. Harrison Ave. They were a big hit at Spring Daze this year and it will be a rocking good time on the patio at RP starting around 8 PM. No cover. More info: Facebook.com/fifth.of.blues.
