Holiday Consignment Event for Kids

Carolyn Yantorn, manages the Once Upon A Child store in Cary

Cary, NC – Get a jump on the holidays and save money at Once Upon A Child‘s Holiday Wear shopping event this Saturday, October 20, 2012.

Holidays: It Pays to be Prepared

If you are planning holiday family photos, hosting a Christmas party or simply have lots of kids to buy for, shopping at consignment shops for kids can save your family a bundle during the holidays. The store holds back all holiday themed items for this big launch day.

Once Upon a Child’s Holiday Wear event promises a fun-time for all. Lots of kid-friendly activities will take place from 11:00am- 3:00 pm including a bounce house and face painting.

What to Buy

The store is packed to the rafters with boys’ and girls’ items from preemie sizes – to youth 16-18. Most clothing is arranged by color.

There are bins of like-new shoes in sizes 0-child’s 4. Pricing ranges from baby onsies at around $1.50 to $16 for most Holiday wear.

Carolyn mentioned that most parents come in looking for clothes and are surprised by the large selection of toys and equipment. If you stop in now, there are also plenty of up-cycled Halloween costumes.

What to Sell

Once Upon a Child pays consignors outright when they bring in items to sell. In this way the store can afford to be choosey, and offer items in premium condition that are still in style. No appointments are necessary.

Clients are paid outright for whatever the store accepts that day, rather waiting to be paid after an item has sold.

Safety First

Carolyn Yantorn, store manager, said that before accepting items, the store checks with the Consumer Safety Commission’s government website to ensure no items are on the recall list.  Shoppers can rest assured that items being sold are in compliance with safety regulations because the store will also check items already on the racks if an alert goes out about a new recall.

The store has been in Cary at Harrison Point Shopping Center for 9 years. Previous to that, the owners had a store for 8 years located by the coast  in Jacksonville, NC . They moved here to Cary to expand and build the business in an area that was stable and growing.

This is the first holiday shopping event the store has held. They host other events when they bring out Winter Coats and Spring Dresses. If you are like our family, your kids are growing out of everything at a rate that empties your wallet. Try shopping for used children’s clothing. You will save a bundle and maybe your budget will be able to handle a few “splurges”.
