Cary, NC — The weather looks promising and the Calendar is so full that we should call this a weekend of wonders in Cary.

Crush at Waverly Place (benefit) – Whole Foods Market of Cary in partnership with the Lochmere Golf Club will be hosting a free Concert featuring Crush on May 16th in the Waverly Place Promenade. The show starts at 7pm. Proceeds from the sale of beer and wine as well as a silent auction benefit the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. 7 – 10 PM.

Downtown Block Party – The Fabulous Daddy-Os, both performing and recording artists, play rock, soul and Carolina beach music. Friday night, they’ll be at the corner of Chatham and Academy in Downtown Cary for the start of the Downtown Performance Series. 7 – 9 PM

Also Friday: Improv at Cary High, 12th Night at Cary Arts Center and the Cary Town Band at Sertoma Amphitheatre.

Farmers Markets – Downtown, Waverly and Western Wake. Salad greens of all types are in season as well as strawberries, radishes, early tomatoes and more.

Wheels on Academy – Cary’s classic car show. Enjoy vintage and specialty autos when Academy Street is turned into a pedestrian mall for Wheels on Academy. 9 AM – 2 PM.

Tour D’Coop – What’s the big fuss about backyard chickens? Find out for yourself at the 10th Annual Tour D’Coop.

East Meets West Festival – Bollywood meets the Blues in this celebration of multiculturalism in the Triangle. Food, music and entertainment. Morrisville Town Hall Drive, 11 AM – 4 PM.

Cary Invasion vs Triangle Stealth – Triangle Pro Basketball League. Must-win game for the Invasion to maintain their #1 ranking. Herb Young Community Center, 6-9 PM.

Opera in the Pines – Join Maestro Myers, the NC Opera Orchestra and spectacular featured singers for this engaging program of popular opera and Broadway favorites. With free admission for children under 14 years of age, this will be a fun and casual evening the whole family can enjoy. Booth Amphitheatre, 7 PM.

Railhawks vs Atlanta – Cary’s pro soccer team takes the field at Wake Med Soccer Park for this rivalry match against the Atlanta Silverbacks. 7 PM.

Frozen – Movies by Moonlight at Booth Amphitheatre. Show starts around 8:30.

Also Saturday: Music at UnVined, Doherty’s, Chef’s Palette and elsewhere. All day canning at Whisk. Paint a Rock at Cary Town Mall and lots more.
