Cary Police Nab Bank Robber in 3 Minutes

Editor’s Note: Crime is not much of a reporting beat here in Cary. But this story is worth publishing. This gist: Cary police arrested a bank robber yesterday 3 minutes after he committed the crime.

Armed Robbery

Thanks to the quick response of the Cary Police Department, an arrest has been made in yesterday’s armed robbery at First Citizens Bank, 10010 Green Level Church Rd, Cary.

The Suspect

Azam Khan, 27, of Cary has been charged with common law robbery, which carries a penalty of 8 to 31 months in jail. He is currently being held at the Wake County Detention Center.

Three Minutes

Just before 3 p.m. on January 14, 2015, Cary police responded to an alarm of a robbery in progress. The suspect entered the bank, displayed a weapon and demanded money from the teller.

Officers arrived on scene within three minutes and apprehended the suspect in the parking lot. There were no injuries and the suspect was arrested without incident.

The money was recovered at the scene.
