Weekend: Ritmo Latino, Final Friday & More

Weekend

Cary, NC — Whether you celebrate “‘the street” on Thursday, celebrate art on Friday or celebrate with a Latino festival on Saturday, there’s plenty of free fun and celebration to be had this weekend in Cary and around the Triangle.

Thursday, May 28, 2015

We might as well go ahead and claim Thursday as an early weekend, because there’s so much to do in town already–like attending Downtown Cary’s Celebrate the Street party from 5:30-7:30 pm on Thursday evening. Food trucks, entertainment and more will be there for a street party to recognize the groundbreaking of the Academy Street construction project.

If you can’t make it out to Celebrate the Street, there’s still plenty to do. Catch Coffee & Connections, our favorite networking event, at the Morrisville Chamber of Commerce at 7:30 am, the final Live at Lunch performance of May in Downtown Cary from 11:30 am-1:30 pm, live music at Park West Village in the evening and more.

NCAA baseball games take place at both 3 and 7 pm on Thursday and continue throughout the weekend, so check our story for the full schedule and promotions.

Friday, May 29, 2015

In addition to the usual Final Friday art festivities happening in Downtown Cary this month, several special programs are going on as well only a short walk or drive away from downtown.

First, enjoy the free artists’ gala for Cary’s En Plein Air art project. See the 43 paintings, enjoy refreshments and music, peruse the gallery and buy your favorite piece at the Cary Arts Center starting at 6 pm on Friday evening.

Stop by Cary Towne Center to see C3 (the Carolina Creative Center) from 6-9 pm, as they’ll also be hosting an artists’ reception to celebrate their new CORRAL Riding Academy exhibition and the horse sculptures that will be in the store through early June. Refreshments will be provided.

Enjoy The Imitation Game at 7 pm outside at Koka Booth Amphitheatre for only $5 as part of their summer Movies by Moonlight series. If you want to spend time outside, but movies aren’t your style, check out the Triangle Brass Band‘s free performance at Bond Park at 7 pm.
