Cary, NC — Sushi, anyone? Here’s a guide to all the sushi restaurants we found in Cary.
A Trendy Food
Sushi has grown in popularity over the years – and why wouldn’t it? It’s tasty and comes wrapped up so beautifully. Sushi isn’t a new thing in Cary, though – we know that. That’s why we published our first guide to sushi back in 2011.
Cary Guide to Sushi
You won’t be surprised to hear that Cary’s sushi scene has changed – grown, that is – in the past five years. So here’s an updated guide for 2016. As a sushi-lover myself, I promise you that there are some outstanding options right here in Cary.
Thai
Thai Spices & Sushi, 986 High House Road, Cary
Nestled in Preston Corners is one of our favorite Thai restaurants in the area. With rich colors, calm lighting and lots of booths, the environment is cozy and relaxing – it’s both a romantic spot for dinner or a quick “escape” for lunchtime.
Thai Spices features more than 15 “deluxe” sushi rolls and even more classic options with a full menu of Thai entrees, appetizers and more. You can’t beat the lunch special, which gives you generous portions at small prices.
Sushi-Thai Cary, 106 Kilmayne Drive, Cary
Sushi-Thai is a must-try restaurant for sushi lovers in Cary. It has been around quite awhile, and, again, the rich, warm environment is very much an escape from the strip mall outside. Unlike many sushi restaurants, Sushi-Thai doesn’t offer buy one, get one free specials on their sushi rolls, but the sushi is reasonably priced and of great quality.
Thai’s Noodle, 2101 Grace Park Drive, Morrisville
Thai’s Noodle has over 40 sushi rolls as well as lunch specials and a full menu filled with mostly Thai cuisine and a few Chinese dishes. This is a spot that’s quick enough for lunch but also a good place to sit down for dinner.
Wasabi, 107 Edinburgh S Drive, Cary
40 deluxe sushi rolls and Thai and Japanese entrees make up the large Wasabi menu.
Asian Fusion
Red Bowl Asian Bistro, 2020 Boulderstone Way, Cary
Red Bowl is one of those places where you can pretty much get anything – the menu features Chinese, Japanese and Thai cuisine and a huge sushi menu with more than 30 options for first-time and adventurous sushi-lovers.
I come here for the “buy one get one free” sushi special that runs everyday – all you have to do is buy a drink with your meal. There’s a lot of out-of-the-ordinary sushi on this menu for people who may be picky – my favorite is a fried, fruit-based roll (the tropical roll) filled with pineapple, mango, avocado and cream cheese covered in a sweet chili sauce.
Yoho Asian Bistro, 8204 Tryon Woods Drive, Cary
Yoho is a Chinese, Japanese and Thai restaurant off of Tryon Road that also serves – you guessed it – sushi. You can get sushi combinations and more than 25 sushi rolls here in addition to all the other menu offerings. Yoho can be both a sit-down place for dinner as well as a quick lunch spot that features good lunch specials.
Pei Wei Asian Diner, 1107 Walnut Street, Cary
Pei Wei is another quick stop for dinner or lunch – it’s not a sushi restaurant, it’s just a restaurant that serves sushi. The service is fast-casual, so you order at a counter before your food is brought to your table. There are only five sushi rolls at Pei Wei, as the menu mainly features on rice and noodle dishes stir-fried with protein and vegetables.
Tasu Asian Bistro, 2007 Walnut Street, Cary
I counted more than 50 sushi rolls on Tasu’s large sushi menu, so there are plenty of options for people of many different sushi preferences. Tasu is another Asian fusion restaurant that is full of most anything you can imagine – you can find Japanese, Thai and Chinese cuisine on the large menu along with many appetizers, desserts, salads and more.
An, 2800 Renaissance Park Place, Cary
An is a fine dining destination where you can find Asian fusion cuisine and outstanding sushi.
Japanese
Maru, 6404 Tryon Road, Cary
Maru has a sushi menu of more than 25 deluxe sushi rolls and a selection of classic rolls and sashimi. You’ll find a wide selection of Korean and Japanese dishes here, too.
Yuri Japanese Restaurant, 1361 Kildaire Farm Road
Yuri is “famous” for their ahi tower, a tower layered with spicy tuna, crab meat, avocado, sushi rice, three kinds of caviar, spicy mayo and sweet sauce. The rest of the sushi menu is large, too, and the restaurant offers sushi specials daily. This restaurant has a nice, cozy environment too and features a full menu of Japanese dishes.
Kabuki Japanese Steakhouse, 220 Nottingham Drive, Cary
You’ll find hibachi-cooked meats and seafood and a large sushi menu at Kabuki.
Genki Restaurant & Sushi Bar, 3420 Ten Ten Road, Suite 314, Cary
There are at least 50 rolls at Genki along with Hibachi and Tempura entrees.
Nishiki, 1216 Parkside Main Street, Cary
Nishiki is new to Parkside Town Commons in west Cary and features a menu full of Japanese dishes and sushi. You can get combination plates and lunch boxes there that mix sushi rolls with other entrees and sides.
Kashin Japanese Restaurant, 309 Crossroads Blvd, Cary
You’ll find at least 35 sushi rolls (that are all reasonably priced) at Kashin along with a long list of Japanese dishes.
Little Tokyo, 1401 SE Maynard Road, Cary
Sit down or take-out Japanese dishes and a large sushi selection at Little Tokyo.
To-Go Style
Nakato Express, 1262 NW Maynard Road, Cary
Nakato is a to-go style Japanese restaurant that serves some sushi. Booths are available for those who want to dine-in.
Hibachi Blue, 1500 Village Market Place, Cary
This is another to-go Japanese restaurant with Hibachi dishes, veggies and rice and a small sushi menu for a quick bite.
Korean
Oiso Sushi & Korean, 1305 NW Maynard Road, Cary
Oiso is new to Maynard Crossing, and I’ve only heard good things about it so far. You can find Korean dishes there along with a large menu of chef-created sushi options. The long sushi list means they should have something for everyone’s tastes.
Unexpected Sushi
Ruckus, 2025 Renaissance Park Place, Cary
Who knew this Ruckus had sushi? Some locations don’t, but this one does, and I hear it’s delicious.

Little Tokyo has a new chef. He’s very good! We love his sushi, but try the Raw Fish Bibimbap. Outstanding!
The Golden Pig (Korean) opened fairly recently and it is located on W Chatham. The meal I had was really delicious and they were happy to help me navigate the menu to find a vegetarian option.
Ginza, off of Cary Parkway and James Jackson Ave has great hibachi and wonderful sushi!
