Cary, NC — This week was one of the lightest weeks since I have been mayor mainly because everyone is preparing for the council-staff working retreat next week.
Cary, NC- The 2019 Town of Cary’s Gifting Tree Project had over 60 entries, the most entries ever in the eight years the Town has organized the contest.

Tuesday I met with two representatives from the Taylor Family YMCA. The YMCA is working on their Long-Range Plan for the next 10 years. As they prepare for that Long-Range Plan the Corporate Development Office is interviewing local officials and leaders to help them shape their vision. I answered dozens of questions and told multiple stories in addition to providing information about how I thought Cary will grow in the future. We talked for about an hour.
Cary, NC – For a person with a disability, finding job opportunities or finding a supportive work environment can be difficult. But a café and bakery opening in Cary in 2020 is aiming to do just that, with jobs and workplace development for people with a variety of disabilities.
Monday I participated in a meeting of the Wake County Mayors Association. Of the twelve Wake County mayors only three were absent. Those were the mayors of Apex, Raleigh, and Wendell. We were hosted by the mayor of Fuquay Varina with a catered dinner from Garibaldi in their new Performing Arts Center.
This weekend, you can see the North Carolina Symphony perform as part of NC Summerfest here in Cary. Also, the Pimento Cheese Festival is back in town and you can try and break the world record with fellow runners Saturday morning. All that and more this weekend in Cary.
Downtown Cary is quickly redeveloping and at a recent Cary Chamber of Commerce meeting, three developers talked about new plans, some of which are already under construction and some starting in the next 12 months.
