Cary, NC – The Heart of Cary Association Inc. is sponsoring a June 30 bash to benefit the proposed Downtown Cary Children’s Museum.

The event will take place at the Ashworth Village parking lot on Thursday evening, June 30 from 8 pm until 10 pm.

Local Music and Local Fun

Local rock ‘n’ roll band SHMak will be the featured performers in what the Association hopes to be the first of a series benefiting the Downtown community.

Downtown member art galleries and restaurants have agreed to remain open for this event for the purpose of providing soft and alcohol refreshments and bathroom facilities, and possible sales of other in-store items. Additionally, a light food items and beverages will be for sale. Bring a blanket or folding chair.

Doc

We caught up with Terry “Doc” Thorne, who is driving this event.

“The Heart of Cary Association is all about community: the community of Downtown—with its varied and friendly merchants and shops, delicious mix of international restaurants, active arts establishment, diverse neighborhoods and a growing base of young professionals.

We represent the best interests of our Downtown and we believe in its future. There are excellent opportunities which exist right now throughout the Downtown Cary business district and its adjacent neighborhoods, better than most other commercial centers or residential developments available.

And there’s a new spirit in the air led, in part, by the Town’s demonstration of their belief in Downtown—the reincarnation of the old Cary school house into a shiny new (Downtown) Community Arts Center. It’s an exciting time, with optimistic families and businesses old and new moving into Downtown almost daily, having rediscovered its unique business climate and up-tempo lifestyle.”

The Heart of Cary Association will be a big part of this regenesis by fostering and supporting both business and residential communities, providing small grants to fellow non-profit and cultural organizations, and spearheading new ideas like the creation of the Downtown Cary Children’s Museum.

Although admission is free, we are told that contributions for the DCCM will be thankfully accepted. Some local Cary vendors will be donating their profits to the cause.
