Cary, NC – Following the excitement of Lazy Daze, Labor Day is a relatively slow weekend on the CaryCitizen Calendar. Just 25 or 30 events. We’ll all be going to hear A Fifth of Blues at RallyPoint in Cary on Friday night.

Labor Day Weekend in Cary

Ah, Labor Day weekend. The last hurrah of summer.

If the weather if cooperative, we might be Day Tripping to Wrightsville Beach from Cary on Saturday. If that’s the case, a stop at Boombalatti’s Ice Cream in Wilmington is not out of the question.

Closer to home, our friend Julie Roland wrote about the NC Hops & Roots Festival on Saturday at Shakori Hills outside Pittsboro. Good time and music all day.

What else is good to do in Cary over the long weekend? Maybe a movie at the Galaxy (still open). Probably a visit to the Cary Y for a last afternoon at the big outdoor pool. Used book stores. Grilling and chilling with friends. A trip to the garden store.

A Fifth of Blues at RallyPoint

CaryCitizen Publisher Hal Goodtree plays in a popular band called A Fifth of Blues. They’ll be at RallyPoint in Cary on Friday night and – if history is any indicator – there will be a nice-sized crowd.

(RallyPoint may have the best patio in Cary – very spacious with lots of tables and room to move around. The weather looks good for Friday, so the band will likely be out on the patio. It’s great fun!)

A Fifth of Blues has been together almost five years. They’re regulars across the Triangle and up as far north as Virginia, recently appearing at the legendary Mojo Room near Danville. The play classic blues, R&B and Soul – fun, danceable music by Etta James, Ray Charles and BB King are always on the playlist.

Music starts at 8 PM. No cover.
