Cary Temperatures to Plunge on Thursday

Temperatures

Cary, NC — Gloves, coats, hats, boots, and scarves will be necessities this week on Thursday, January 8, 2015. WRAL predicts a high of only 31 degrees and a frigid low of 21 degrees in Cary, so make sure to bundle up before heading to work and school.

Low Temperatures in Cary

With “highs” reaching into the low 30s in Cary on Thursday, January 8, 2015, I’m happy to see that at least the day will be sunny and clear. In my book, overcast skies and freezing rain do not mix well with cold days.

This big chill, which started settling into the Triangle late on Sunday, will peak on Thursday. Meterologists are forecasting that frigid polar air will first plunge south into the northern plains, then the Midwest, and finally into the East Coast.

North Carolina will see a pattern of days in the 40s and nights in the 20s through the weekend.

Bundle Up

All this week, but especially on Thursday, try to start your car several minutes before leaving home to allow windows to defrost and the engine to warm up. The clear skies deter any chance of snow, but make sure to watch for ice on the roads.

Layering is key–especially for kids and teens who may not dress adequately for the chilly weather. Hats, scarves, and warm socks can make all the difference on cold days.

I’ll even dress my 30 pound dog in a sweater for her walks–the hot pink leopard print embarrasses both of us but, hey, it’s that cold! On weeks like this, I also keep a soft and fuzzy blanket in my car to wrap up with on my way to work. You should try it.
