Cary, NC – The Bunch of Jerks, aka the Carolina Hurricanesm played as perfect of a game as any team could and thumped the defending Washington Capitals 5-0 in front of an electric arena that hasn’t had this much excitement in years. The Canes knew the importance of this game as they were down 2 games to 0 in the best of 7 series and the chance of winning a series going down by 3 games is rarely done.
Cary, NC – This week was mostly meetings with a couple of events.
Monday I met with the town manager for our weekly one-on-one. Topics included a potential bond referendum, downtown businesses, the land development ordinance, the mall site, and the Fenton site. Our meeting lasted about 45 minutes.
Later Monday I met with the Chief Executive Officer of the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina. We talked about several things such as Cary businesses, potential class A office sites, and Cary’s diverse population. Our meeting lasted about half an hour. Read more

I came to Cary in 1948 after finishing a master’s degree in Missouri. I taught economics and business at North Carolina State from 1948 until 1976 when I retired. I grew up on a farm, and bought this one close to the university.
In 1951, when Mr. Bringham bought it, the house had never been painted. He was going to convert it into a hog farm, but in 1957, he decided to sell it. There was a big lawn and some enormous trees in front, and fruit trees on the land, so we could raise fruit. Read more
