Cary, NC – This week was a slow week due to the holiday.
Monday was Veteran’s Day which included a program at the Veteran’s Memorial in Cary. Veterans and their families have given so much to protect our freedom and keep us safe. If you see a veteran, please thank them for their service.
Morrisville, NC – The Pugh House is arguably the premier historic property in all of Morrisville, and after an exterior renovation last year, the decision now falls to Town Council of what to do with this nearly 150-year-old house. Read more
Cary, NC – The 2019 long session kicked off on a cold day in January. The majority’s budget was crafted in the warmth of spring and vetoed in the heat of summer. Fall’s beauty has taken a back seat to brief floor sessions with a paucity of votes, many ‘no vote’ sessions, a few hastily called committee meetings, stripped bills with titles that in no way reflect their contents, and several nonsensical recesses of varying lengths. Like a plane without tower clearance to land, the legislature remains in a holding pattern, waiting for Speaker Moore, Senator Berger and Governor Cooper to negotiate a compromise budget.
Cary, NC – The rezoning and redevelopment of Cary Towne Center comes before Town Council at the end of 2019. This week, the Planning and Zoning Board met to look over the proposal, as well as new conditions and the architectural design guidebook. Read more
Cary, NC – This week was busy and included an event to start the holiday season.
Monday I met with the town manager for our weekly one-on-one. We spent most of our time talking about the upcoming quarterly meeting. We also spent time talking about future parks.

Cary, NC – United States Representative David Price (D-NC 4) spoke at Morrisville’s recent town hall, taking questions on healthcare expenses and topics related to affordable housing and transportation, all while the current presidential impeachment proceedings loomed in the discussion. Read more
Morrisville, NC – The 2019 Morrisville municipal election saw two changes to its Town Council, as a vacant seat was filled and a new candidate defeated a two-term incumbent to take the seat. Read more
Cary, NC – This week was mostly ceremonial since several meetings were cancelled.
Monday I met with the First Lego League Robotics team about issues related to the environment. They created a plan and a model for Carpenter Park to include items like solar power, rain barrels for water, and trees to shade for play structures. It is so very encouraging to have youth at this age focusing on ideas that will make their community better. This type of engagement is what makes our community great. Thanks to the youth for visiting and sharing their ideas. They plan to meet with our Parks Director next.
Cary, NC – At the Cary Chamber of Commerce’s annual economic update on Wednesday, October 30, Economist Ted Abernathy stated thatCary’s economy is still progressing well despite news that jobs that drive an economy are fading in Wake County and around the state. Read more
Cary, NC – With climate change and carbon pollution now a dominant topic in the United States, the Town of Cary is reviewing ways to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, with a goal to reduce emissions by 100 percent in the next 20 years. Read more
