Little Gym is Serious Fun

Cary, NC – We hear the stats every day: obesity is an epidemic among the youth of our nation. Annie Andruchowitz, owner of the Little Gym of Cary, has a plan in place to get kids active in a fun and engaging environment.

Little Gym / Serious Fun

Annie and her husband Adam bought the Little Gym business about a year ago in its current Preston Corners location because she was looking to own a business that she could feel strongly about and connect with the mission. Little Gym, with their emphasis on “serious fun” was a great fit. She was already familiar with the gym through her own three kids and she loved the structure of the program, the instructors and the environment.

New Location More Amenities

For years, Little Gym was located near Krogers in the Maynard Crossing Shopping plaza. This new location in Preston Corners affords a large open lobby and excellent viewing windows that look into the classroom areas. There is a real gymnastics floor and additional room for more equipment.

Annie liked that many of the instructors have been with the company a long time.  Director Genevieve Strydon is a six year veteran and has two children herself.

3 Step Plan

The goal of Little Gym is to keep kids active and learning. Their program is based on 3-dimensional learning, and has 3 tenants:

  1. Brain Boost
  2. Get Moving
  3. Citizenship

A typical session day for a preschooler will include several stations of activities beginning with an opening circle, a warm-up, a group activity, three gymnastics stations (beam, bars and tumbling), a game, and then a closing circle for everyone to cool down. The kids are constantly moving and staying engaged in the changing activities.

Opportunities For All Ages

Classes differ by age group, with sessions ranging from 4 months old to 12 years old. Typical hours of operation range from 9am – 8pm. On the weekends they host birthday parties and parent nights out and some special events. With class registration, families become members. Membership has its privileges including discounts on parties, sibling discounts, early registration and a new point system that offers discounts on other purchases. Events are open to the public, but membership grants special pricing and early registration.

Enrollment has started for the 2012-2013 40 week season which starts August 20 and goes through June 8, 2013. Members pay monthly to attend. They kick off the year with an open house September 14 from 6-8pm. Another popular event is their annual Halloween Party, Oct 26th, which is open exclusively to members who come dressed in costumes for some more “Serious Fun.”
