A Look Inside Cary Village Square

Cary, NC — Here’s your guide to the 18 shops, restaurants and services found in the Cary Village Square shopping center.

Your Guide to Cary Shopping Centers

Even if you visit the same shopping center every week, do you know every store, restaurant or service that’s in it? It’s not something that most pay attention to. That’s why we started our series of Cary Shopping Centers – we’re visiting both well-known shopping centers and “hidden treasures” in Cary and Morrisville to find out everything that’s in them.

Cary Village Square

Cary Village Square is nestled right between downtown Cary and the mall where Cary Towne Boulevard and Walnut Street meet. You might know it for Ollie’s, Dairy Queen or Mac’s Tavern, but there’s a lot more in there as well.

Dining

Mac’s Tavern has a full menu of appetizers and entrees (and they even serve breakfast all day), but this sports bar is also known for its nightlife and large, outdoor patio. There’s always something going on at Mac’s, whether it’s comedy night, open mic night, band performances or a chili challenge (one is coming up on February 21, 2016).

I was also intrigued to spot a Chinese restaurant called Banana Leaf that offers classic dishes along with some surprising menu options like Chinese casseroles and lobster. The environment is set-up for lunch or dinner, but you can also order take-out online or by phone. There’s also a China One down further down the strip mall, and, though this restaurant is make take-out style than Banana Leaf, it still has a selection of tables and chairs for people who want to eat in.

Tom Yum Thai is a great Thai restaurant that’s one of the outparcels in this shopping center (this building used to be a Courtney’s). There’s also a DQ Grill and Chill (Dairy Queen’s new name), a Burger King and a Jersey Mikes.

Supermarkets

Harmony Mediterranean Market is a Turkish grocery store nestled in the middle of this full shopping center. The shop is small but stocked with a large selection of products, including candies, frozen foods, bakery items, soaps and more.

The S-Mart Asian Supermarket & Cafe is a larger market at the Mac’s Tavern end of the shopping center that specializes in Korean cuisine. The shelves here are full of meats, sauces and fresh vegetables, and there’s a cafe inside if you want something to eat. Items on the menu include Korean BBQ, noodle and rice dishes, Teriyaki entrees and more.

Shopping

One of my favorite stores in this shopping center is an Ollie’s Bargain Outlet. You can find a little bit of everything here – home decorations, books, furniture, hardware, cookware, food, clothing, gardening items and more. And, since the store is a retailer of closeouts, excess inventory and salvage merchandise, everything is pretty cheap.

There’s also a Performance Bicycle, a Scrubs supply store, a Stride Rite shoe store for kids and a Harbours Sew & Vac, where you can get vacuum cleaners and sewing machines repaired. They offer sewing classes, too.
