Canes Lose to Tampa Bay 5-1

Cary, NC – The Carolina Hurricanes returned home after a semi-successful, two-wins-two-losses-long road trip. The Canes played better than the 2-2 record, which is very encouraging considering their records in recent past years for the get-out-of-town-for the-State-Fair road trip.

Canes Lose in OT Against Columbus

Cary, NC – The Carolina Hurricanes garnered a point from the 2-1 overtime loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets to close out their short home stand before vacating the PNC Arena while the State Fair is in town. Like the Canes, Columbus is another small market team and doesn’t get a lot of NHL press. But don’t underestimate them – they are a very good team with an outstanding goalie and are the only team in the NHL younger, by a two month average, than the Canes. Read more

Bob Fennel’s 2017 Canes Summer Update

Cary, NC – First of all, congratulations to the Pittsburgh Penguins for their second Stanley Cup in as many years. How cool was it to see Ron Hainsey lift the Cup? Canes End Home Season on 5-4 Shootout Loss to Blues

Cary, NC – The Carolina Hurricanes played their final home game of the season Saturday, April 8, 2017 against the St. Louis Blues totally different than their previous outing Thursday night, April 6, 2017 against the Islanders. This game had more emotion, more jump, more speed, more passing, scoring and, best of all, more Caniacs in the seats. In reality, the game meant little; okay, the Blues clinched third spot in the Central division but both teams played as if the game had significant meaning. Read more

Canes Just Didn’t Show Up against Islanders, Lose 3-0

Cary, NC – It wasn’t that the Islanders were that much better or played as a team that needs to win all of their last games, as they do, to have any chance of the Playoffs. It was more that the Canes, now officially out of the Wild Card slot for the playoffs, were as flat as they’ve been all season. Watching the coaches behind the bench throughout the game was probably more entertaining than the action on the ice. At one point the way head coach Bill Peters turned to Rod Brind’Amour, it looked as if he was telling him to head to the locker room and put his uniform on as the team needed some spark out there.
