Cary, NC – This week was lighter than expected.
Monday my one-on-one meeting with the town manager was cancelled.
Monday evening I joined council members Smith, Frantz, Yerha, and George at the Booth amphitheater for the Honor a Teacher Awards Ceremony put on by the Cary Chamber of Commerce. Each school with Cary students had five nominations with one winner picked that received $1000 and over $800 for school supplies. The money for the school supplies was provided by the North Carolina Legislators. The money for the awards was provided by various business sponsors including the Town of Cary. Read more
Apex, NC – With Wake County now containing one million residents and growing every day, that means tens of thousands of cars on nearby highways. The state Department of Transportation (NC DOT) is planning multiple highway changes, including expanding NC-64, which residents got to see for themselves at a recent open house. Read more
Cary, NC – This past Thursday the council and members of our town staff held our third quarter meeting at the SAS Global Education Center. These quarterly meetings are invaluable in that they foster a collaborative environment where the council and staff work collectively to better implement our community’s vision and keep Cary great. Cary, NC – This week was much busier than last week and included a quarterly meeting on the budget.
Monday afternoon I met with the town manager and the chief strategy officer for my one-on-one weekly meeting. We talked mostly about the upcoming bond referendum this fall and the quarterly meeting later in the week. We also talked briefly about the mall site. Read more
Cary, NC – Along Walnut Street, Cary has a busy interchange that connects to three highways, and in an attempt to address congestion, the North Carolina Department of Transportation is proposing three different ramp reconstructions, as well as possible new lanes. Read more
Cary, NC – Back in 2017, there were big plans to redevelop Cary Towne Center with IKEA as the new anchor draw with its first Triangle store. Then IKEA changed its mind about new store formats and pulled out of their decision, leaving plans for the mall in limbo. Now there’s a new preliminary development plan for the mall, with multi-use buildings and several with a proposed maximum height of 12 stories. Read more

Cary, NC – Downtown Cary is quickly redeveloping and at a recent Cary Chamber of Commerce meeting, three developers talked about new plans, some of which are already under construction and some starting in the next 12 months. Read more
Cary, NC – The latest Cary Town Council meeting had the first Public Hearing on this year’s Community Development Block Grant, as well as a rezoning adjacent to the Downtown Cary Park and the conveyance of Cary fire trucks to rural communities. Read more
