Cary, NC — Home of the award-winning Kid’s Together Playground, Marla Dorrel Park breaks the mold of the typical suburban park. There are many unique elements to Marla Dorrel including a dragon climbing structure (named KATAL), progressive design elements and landscaping, and management by a volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit group.
After many years of visiting this park, I am still amazed at the incredible variety and quality of features packed into the 2 acre playground. Read more

Cary, NC — As one of the busiest streets in Wake County, Walnut Street is usually associated with traffic, stop lights, and shopping centers. However, in 2002, the Town of Cary decided to change that perception and purchased 11 acres of undeveloped land at the intersection of Lawrence Road and Walnut Street. The result is one of the most interesting and beautifully designed parks in Cary – Walnut Street Park. Read more

Cary, NC — Earning the distinction of Cary’s smallest park, it is easy to drive past Rose Street Park and not realize what you are missing. Situated at the end of Rose Street in the Burtrose neighborhood, the unassuming ⅔ acre park could seemingly fit inside the K-mart it is located immediately behind. However, for the park-goer looking for a quaint, neighborhood park, Rose Street may just fit the bill perfectly. Read more

Cary, NC — Nestled alongside a small creek in an unassuming neighborhood lies one of the jewels of Cary’s park system – MacDonald Woods Park. It is not the largest (only 13.8 acres) nor the best equipped (there are no restrooms or shelters), but there is a certain charm to MacDonald Woods that attracts a variety of visitors, many from outside the neighborhood.
