The Town of Cary’s Tech Task Force (TTF) is scheduled to meet this Wednesday. In a first for Cary, the commission meeting will be streamed online.
When it comes to government, the term “sunshine” is akin to “openness.” Technology has revolutionized openness in society. In that spirit, the Tech Task Force is launching a first for Cary – it’s own website. You are invited to a meeting on Tuesday evening at Page-Walker about the new website for Cary’s Tech Task Force.
Our very own Cary “Geek Squad” aka the “Technology Task Force” met Wednesday for the first time at Town Hall. I was impressed with the breadth and depth of their experience, their passion for making Cary a better place, and their willingness to take valuable time out of their lives to help in this important endeavor.
At its regular meeting last week, Cary Town Council approved members of a new Technology Task Force. The job of the nine-member group is to recommend ways the Town can the best use of technology in communicating with citizens.
Earlier this spring, a group of local technologists started a Cary branch of Code for America (CfA). The second meeting of Cary’s CfA brigade is on Tuesday, June, 25, 2013.
The council discussed several items on the budget for about two hours. The majority of the time was spent on recommendations from the technology task force which were not included in the budget.
Code for America (CfA) started in 2009. It’s a non-profit, non-partisan organization that brings together programmers, designers, data analysts and other web-industry professionals to work with municipalities to promote openness, participation and efficiency in local government. Now, Cary has it’s own Code for America Brigade.
Just about every month, the Cary Chamber hosts an Economic Development breakfast. On February 6, the guest speakers will be members of Cary’s Technology Task Force.
