Canes End Home Season on 5-4 Shootout Loss to Blues

Cary, NC – The Carolina Hurricanes played their final home game of the season Saturday, April 8, 2017 against the St. Louis Blues totally different than their previous outing Thursday night, April 6, 2017 against the Islanders. This game had more emotion, more jump, more speed, more passing, scoring and, best of all, more Caniacs in the seats. In reality, the game meant little; okay, the Blues clinched third spot in the Central division but both teams played as if the game had significant meaning. Read more

Canes Just Didn’t Show Up against Islanders, Lose 3-0

Cary, NC – It wasn’t that the Islanders were that much better or played as a team that needs to win all of their last games, as they do, to have any chance of the Playoffs. It was more that the Canes, now officially out of the Wild Card slot for the playoffs, were as flat as they’ve been all season. Watching the coaches behind the bench throughout the game was probably more entertaining than the action on the ice. At one point the way head coach Bill Peters turned to Rod Brind’Amour, it looked as if he was telling him to head to the locker room and put his uniform on as the team needed some spark out there. Canes Lay Goose Egg Against Stars, End Point Streak

Cary, NC – The Carolina Hurricanes ended their franchise record game point streak losing to the Dallas Stars 3-0, in a heart breaker of a game in front of a very good and supportive crowd. Kari Lehtonen earned every bit of the shut out but until the third period, he wasn’t challenged as much as he should have been as the Canes were flat and didn’t have that desperation that was evident late in the game. Canes Tame Wild, 3-1

Cary, NC – Eric Staal and his Minnesota Wild team are one of the top teams in the west and if they win their game against the Canes, they would have leap frogged Chicago as the top team in the west. This was EStaal’s second trip to the PNC Arena wearing a visitor’s uniform, the first being last year shortly after he was traded to the NY Rangers with the Canes winning that game 4-1. Once again, the Canes beat EStaal’s team, this time by a 3-1 score. Read more

Leafs Beat Canes 3-2 in OT

Cary, NC – The Carolina Hurricanes last game at home against the Toronto Maple Leafs was a poor outing in a 4-0 loss so both pride, and possibly a few words from the coaching staff, would hopefully have a different outcome. The effort was certainly there but the execution came just that short as the Canes lost 3-2 in overtime. Read more
