Cary, NC – This week was relatively short in comparison to typical weeks this time of year.
Monday I called council members to hear of concerns or questions they may have had about the upcoming council meeting on Thursday. Since the discussion part of that meeting was quasi-judicial I was not allowed to discuss those topics with council members. Read more
Cary, NC – This week was much slower with just a few activities.
Tuesday I attended the North Carolina Chinese Business Association annual reception at the Governor’s mansion. I estimate that there were about two hundred in attendance. After arriving I talked with several business owners and professors. At 6 PM the emcee, Renee Chou from WRAL, started introducing the speakers. The speakers included the Governor, Secretary of State, two North Carolina Senators, and many Chinese business leaders. Read more
Cary, NC – This was a busy week for me.
Monday I participated in a meeting of the Wake County Mayors Association. Eight of the twelve mayors were in attendance. Absent were the mayors of Apex, Morrisville, Knightdale, and Wendell. One topic discussed was the legislation that now requires municipalities to pay for road improvements around schools. In addition, municipalities are not allowed consider the road’s level of service as part of their decision. Read more
Cary, NC – In Harold Weinbrecht’s 12th year as Cary’s mayor, he sees the town’s future as positive with solutions promised to some of Cary’s most pressing problems in his latest State of the Town address. Read more
Cary, NC – This week was a little lighter than expected due to a couple of cancelled meetings.
Monday, council members and staff held a reception for the Cary delegation of the North Carolina legislature. Legislative attendees included Gale Adcock, Cynthia Ball, Julie von Haefen, Allison Dahle, Wiley Nickle, Robert Reives, Sydney Batch, and Jay Chaudhuri. Cary, NC – This week was the first week with a normal schedule in quite a while.
On Monday I contacted each council member to hear about concerns and questions they had with the upcoming council meeting agenda. One council member wanted the project for Habitat for Humanity on Tremble Avenue property to be pulled from consent so that the benefits of the flooding controls could be presented in public. Other council members made comments on a proposed office building on Green Level West. Council members also made comments about the Green Level West Road and Pine Rail project that included 75 townhomes. Read more
Cary, NC – Happy New Year!
Since this was a holiday week there isn’t a lot to post.
Thursday morning I attended the Economic Forecast breakfast held by the Cary Chamber. At the beginning of the event, I had the honor and privilege of administering the Oath of Office for my friend Gale Adcock’s third term in the North Carolina House of Representatives. Mayor Pro-Tem Bush held Gale’s Bible (her grandmother’s). I have had the pleasure to know Gale since 2007 and served with her on the Cary council for years. I couldn’t possibly think of a better person to represent Cary. I am sure she will continue to do a great job on our behalf. Read more
Cary, NC – This week was very slow since it is the week before the Christmas holiday and New Year’s.
Monday I attended the annual Mayors Association holiday dinner which was held in Wake Forest. I was joined by council members Robinson, Smith, and Yerha as well as several staff members. It was a time of fellowship and for reconnecting with officials from all over the county. I estimate there were over 100 people in attendance. The Mayors Association and municipalities paid for the elected officials’ dinner. We all paid for our spouse’s dinner. Read more

Cary, NC – Tis the season to be busy if you are a mayor. There were lots of events this week and a quasi-judicial council meeting.
Monday I met with the town manager and the assistant town manager. Most of our meeting was about affordable housing. In our discussion we noted that there are a lot of questions about affordable housing that need to be answered. Read more
