Cary, NC — As one of Cary’s two open-space parks, Heater Park provides a more subdued experience than can be found at most of the Town’s other offerings. In fact, it is easy to mistake Heater Park as an undeveloped lot of land in a quiet, downtown neighborhood. The long tract of lush landscape consumes but a mere 1.5 acres, yet it has much to offer for town citizens. Read more

Cary, NC — Home of the award-winning Kid’s Together Playground, Marla Dorrel Park breaks the mold of the typical suburban park. There are many unique elements to Marla Dorrel including a dragon climbing structure (named KATAL), progressive design elements and landscaping, and management by a volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit group.
After many years of visiting this park, I am still amazed at the incredible variety and quality of features packed into the 2 acre playground. Read more

Cary, NC — As one of the busiest streets in Wake County, Walnut Street is usually associated with traffic, stop lights, and shopping centers. However, in 2002, the Town of Cary decided to change that perception and purchased 11 acres of undeveloped land at the intersection of Lawrence Road and Walnut Street. The result is one of the most interesting and beautifully designed parks in Cary – Walnut Street Park. Read more

Situated at the end of Rose Street in the Burtrose neighborhood, the unassuming ⅔ acre park could seemingly fit inside the K-mart it is located immediately behind. However, for the park-goer looking for a quaint, neighborhood park, Rose Street may just fit the bill perfectly. Read more
