Amazon Splits HQ2 Pick Into Two Sites, and We’re Neither Of Them
Cary, NC – Atlanta, Boston and Austin were all popular speculation picks for Amazon’s new headquarters while local governments and business developers tried to secure the tech and retail giant in the Triangle. Now, Amazon reveals it will split HQ2 into two sites and already picking one site few people had circled as their guess. Read more

Cary, NC – This week consisted of meetings, ribbon cuttings, and other events.
Monday – The Hive
Monday I joined council members Robinson, Bush, Frantz, and Yerha for the ribbon cutting of the Hive. The Hive is a multipurpose space located in western Cary near McCrimmon Parkway and Yates Store Road. It offers activities for all ages ranging from arts enrichment to exercise and STEM programs. Birthday party packages are also available; however the space cannot be reserved for private functions. To find out more about the Hive go here. Read more
Harold’s Blog: Fire Station, Town Council Meeting and More
Cary, NC – This week’s highlights include a fire station groundbreaking and a regularly scheduled council meeting.
Monday – Kildaire and Maynard Shopping Center
Monday I contacted all council members to hear of questions and concerns they may have had about the Thursday council meeting. Most of questions were about the developer condition on the Pine Rail Lane and Green Level West Road rezoning proposal. There were also questions about the public hearing on MacGregor Centre Planned Development rezoning proposal. Later in the day I met with staff to go over the agenda and questions the council members had. Our meeting concluded in about 15 minutes. Following that meeting I had a short meeting with the town manager and Mayor Pro-Tem Bush.
Cary Town Council: Fenton Agreement, Booth Amphitheatre Budget and More
Cary, NC – The Thursday, October 25, 2018 Cary Town Council meeting may have been the shortest meeting of the year, with limited discussion or public comments and two items tabled. But the meeting still saw important votes on the Fenton development, Koka Booth Amphitheatre and more. Read more

Cary, NC – This week was a typical third week of the month with a mayors meeting and a meeting of CAMPO (Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization).
Monday – Mayors Meeting
Monday I met with the town manager to discuss a downtown business development. The project has been in the works a long time and we talked about how I could help. That discussion lasted about fifteen minutes even though we talked about an hour. Read more

Cary, NC – This week Cary was impacted by Hurricane Michael while hosting two of our biggest events of the year, the SAS Championships and Diwali. Read more
Hurricane Michael Causes Power Outages Across Cary
Cary, NC – Hurricane Florence left Cary mostly intact but Hurricane Michael had a more direct impact, downing trees all over the Triangle and leaving many in the area without power. Read more
Harold’s Blog: LDO Amendments, SAS Championships and More
Cary, NC – This week was a little slower than is typical for this time of year.
Monday – SAS Championships
I started Monday by giving remarks at the SAS Championships Media day breakfast. The SAS Championship has had a significant economic impact on our community since 2001 with over $140 million in economic benefit. In addition, this event puts Cary and the Triangle on a global stage through live coverage on the Golf Channel. Coverage of the SAS Championships will be in more than 200 million homes in 84 countries and 11 languages across the world. We are excited about this tournament and looking forward to it and all the activities that go along with it. Read more

Monday – Cary Rebranding
Monday I attempted to contact all council members since there was a regularly scheduled council meeting on Thursday. I was able to contact all council members but one. Items talked about in my one-on-one discussions included the proposal for hotels on North Harrison and the Bainbridge proposal at Maynard and Chapel Hill Road. Read more
